Chick-lit recommendation of the day: "American Royals" by Katharine McGee.

I had bought this book a while back but just got around to reading it. I think she should've written the younger characters slightly older, but overall, an interesting "what if?" Washington had allowed himself to be king?

All right, I'm in the mood for a movie-AT-the-actual-theater, so what have you seen lately (new releases) that's good? Or at least good enough that you didn't feel you wasted your money watching it, haha. :)

I'm fairly open to whatever genre, EXCEPT horror.

There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

Trump exposed for embezzling donor money into his bank account.

That's the real headline.

This corruption is celebrated by Republicans, and the ballroom also another money laundering vehicle for Trump.

As the disabled, retired, and the weak, watch in hunger as they rob the country.

You know, apropos of nothing in particular, and although I haven't researched it yet, I strongly suspect that a president starting a foreign war to distract from his extensive ties with child sex traffickers is probably a high crime or misdemeanor under the Constitution's impeachment clauses.

Actual study: Anthropic paid MIT to use a "labor simulation tool" that said 11.7% of TASKS could be done by AI
MIT study finds AI can already replace 11.7% of U.S. workforce
Artificial intelligence can already replace 11.7% of the U.S. labor market, across finance, health care and professional services, according to MIT's study.

They've already made a few blows, so democracy is on life support right now.

Either they're going to be remembered for being spineless cowards, or they're going to be remembered for putting a stop to this regime. Not feeling great that they'll do the *right* thing.

Make him pay for his own golf trips.

Hey Congress - how about CAPPING HOW MUCH MONEY A PRESIDENT CAN SPEND ON VACATION/PERSONAL TIME PER YEAR? They go over it, they pay for it themselves.

Trump’s golf trips add up costing taxpayers millions. Why doesn’t the GOP cut these trips instead of Medicaid?

I saw a post on Instagram today measuring snowfall in beer cans, and sorry, but that's the only way to measure Midwest snowfall from here on out.
A first look at snowfall totals so far across Chicagoland.

Chicago’s record for the snowiest November day is 8”. Could this storm be the one to break it?

The problem with anything related to Congressional salaries is ... they make their own salaries.

And they'll NEVER vote amongst themselves take less money.

But Congress should not be able to give themselves a pay raise WITHOUT raising minimum wage & having MW directly tied into cost of living.
How about tying minimum wage to congressional salaries & benefits?

What drives me insane is when large corporations say that they can’t afford to pay more. That’s real screwed up thinking.

The executives have no clue what minimum wage means to people. It means two jobs. Still people are buried by debt for just everyday expenses, then someone gets sick. It’s over.

I’d tie the highest wage in a company to the lowest - it can only be, say, ten times the lowest wage in the company or something. That way, businesses have their own self-interest in paying their lowest paid workers comparatively well to the amount they do now.

The Nazis used the term "Lying Press" (Lügenpresse) to discredit and censor all dissenting media, simultaneously targeting journalists, and seizing, and giving their political allies control of news outlets to crush any opposition.

Just mentioning that now for no reason at all.

Just think: no previous administration has done this. Has needed to done this. Has claimed such "massive bias" as this one does.

Every other pres: journalists report, the world rolls on.

This regime: "WTF THEY TELL EVERYBODY WHAT WE'RE DOING & IT SOUNDS SO BAD WHEN IT'S SAID OUT LOUD, SO, *BIAS*!"
The psychology of this website is so transparent. They're not attacking progressive media (who don't give a shit) so much as they're naming access bootlickers who already often cater to the WH anyway — because they’ll actually freak out and change their coverage *even more.*

Just working the refs.

"If the U.S. military operation is not an armed conflict of any kind, these orders to kill helpless civilians clinging to the wreckage of a vessel our military destroyed would subject everyone from SECDEF down to the individual who pulled the trigger to prosecution under U.S. law for murder."
Here are US military lawyers stating clearly that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's "kill everybody" orders are either (1) war crimes or (2) murder.

Either way, expect prosecutions in the future.
