What’s genuinely wild about the machismo from this administration is it regularly does this game of football with reporters while acting like a total strongman in propaganda. You’d think if they were so right, they’d want credit, but no.
Reached out to the White House and the Pentagon to ask what they know about the death toll of their strikes in Venezuela.

The White House referred us to the Pentagon.

And the Pentagon referred us to the White House.

👇🎯 This propagates the lies & legitimizes the illegitimacy. Media outlets either need to get staff with knowledge of history & foreign policy (& the law) to push back/vet in real time or stop hosting Trump admin officials live on the air & stop quoting them in standalone block quotes in print.
So many in media are ill-equipped to interview officials about what’s happening because they begin with the presumption of legitimacy and don’t know enough about history or U.S. foreign policy to foment intelligent pushback and hold officials accountable.

Trump is weak at home, and he can be stopped – so long as the domestic political logic of foreign intervention is recognized and turned against him. This act of war is about regime change in the United States. It only succeeds if Americans allow it to do so.

“Well… we can’t just keep filing impeachment articles all the time.”

Yes you can! If the man is committing impeachable offenses on the regular, you’re acquiescing to a standard that raises the bar for impeachable offense to absurd levels.
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

the conceit at the core of this statement is that Schumer and his cadre believe they were elected to feel things, not do things
Press call with Chuck Schumer says he has been talking with his caucus "I've been talking to so many members of my caucus today. Everybody is very, very just totally, totally, totally troubled."

Innocent Venezuelans died because of that silence. I know our billionaire-owned media outlets don't care, but what if Americans died during that operation too? It easily could have happened given how sloppily things were handled. If the Post and Times knew, who else did?

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

I hesitate to attribute strategy to Trump campaigns but, to the extent there was a method to the madness, he catered to the anti-interventionist right *and* took advantage of perennial leftist credulity on foreign policy, where they regard Dems as "just as bad as Republicans."
"even if doing so strains the anti-interventionist identity once central to his political brand."

He was never an "anti-interventionist" and people writing things like this are at great risk of being scammed by the wallet inspector.
Once a critic of overseas entanglements, President Trump now appears willing to embrace regime change as a tool of American influence, raising questions about whether his “America First” doctrine is being redefined.

The military is as porous as sponge under Hegseth. It's not the media's job to do his. It's their job to expose him as a corrupt, continuous screw-up so our military can be protected by not having a chatty white supremacist drunk who is chummy with Russia in charge.

You can’t report illegal acts because you don’t want to compromise them being carried out is an interesting take, if true
NYT, WaPo learned of the secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin but held off publishing what they had at the administration's request to avoid endangering US troops

The most junior copy editor at the nation’s worst college paper could find a way to squeeze “which killed an estimated 40 people” somewhere into these top 6 grafs of the NYTimes story.

It was a conscious decision to bury it in the bottom half.

I did NOT ask to experience a re-enactment as an adult.

When I said earlier that literally every single thing happening today can be traced back to us not just allowing but encouraging it to be done to the black community- this is another example. ‘drugs as criminal’ happened in the US almost exclusively by connecting drugs to black community.
Drugs are the primary boogeyman used to justify imperial intervention in Latin America. When academics and activists like myself talk about legalizing drugs, it's not only to keep drug users safe from the toxic supply (which is reason enough), it's about geopolitical stability. It affects YOU

One major thing federal elected Democrats can do now is threaten to investigate and prosecute anyone involved in war crimes if / when they are back in the majority.

Political chilling effects go both ways.
Those days are over.
Now they just willingly follow illegal orders.

I’m at Times Square, where an emergency “No War On Venezuela” protest just took to the street. Easily a thousand people here in real-feel 20°F weather.

“No more coups, no more wars, Venezuela’s not yours!”

“No boots on the ground no bombs in the air, U.S. out of everywhere!”

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they?

If you do neither, go ahead and pack your office because you’re losing your next election.
