Men are full human beings deserving of care and understanding, even the ones who do the most harm.

Yes I know that's a very hot take. I stand by it here:
Men are not trash.
Perpetuating the narrative that “men are bad” helps normalize rape culture by making it seem like it’s just inherent to their nature. It’s not.

An underrated good the next Democratic administration could do with virtually zero actual political blowback from voters would be to come in with anti-trust laws like a wrecking ball and break up media and tech companies. It would fuck up The Other Side, too.
Brendan Carr is also very excited for more local broadcast TV consolidation at the hands of the right wing!

You know, to improve competition, something Carr (who has rubber stamped every desire media and telecom giants have ever had) genuinely cares about

My colleague got into Trump's sprawling family detention camp, which is full of toddlers, kids, & teens.

- Kids have cut themselves or talked about suicide

-There's worms & mold in food

-300 kids have been held for 30+ days, far longer court settlement allows

I am available if any pop stars need some historical information about the Drug War
Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one.

Bad Bunny's historical advisor is an assistant professor at UW-Madison.

Hell of a flex for your tenure file.

When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.
Weird. I tried to warn libertarians about Trump

Please don't accuse people in knitted hats of only wearing their supposed politics if all you're doing is posting, which is basically just another way of wearing your politics. It's a silly thing to attack people over in any case. Using fashion to signal support for ongoing acts of rebellion is good

Soft launch NOTHING.

Ring has been committed to making mass user driven surveillance palatable since it rolled out those cute ads of people greeting loved ones or returning packages or whatever.

They’ve been affectively priming us to accept surveillance as s fact of life for decades.
the soft launch of mass surveillance.

don’t fall for it.

I help people engage with plant medicines not just because everyone deserves individual healing, but because the movement for liberation requires constantly ripping deep wounds open so they can finally be repaired instead of just ignored, and we will collectively fail if we don't get support.

Been looking around for resources to share with people (and for myself) and this is another good one
The purpose of pointing out systems is to give us a concrete goal for dismantling them and putting something new in place.

Our solutions need to be based on an understanding of how people turn into monsters in the first place. Leaving the systems intact will create an endless supply of new monsters

The peoples the land was stolen from are still here.

Until that situation is reconciled and the land is no longer owned and commodified, none of us will know peace.

Opening up your humanity lets in crashing waves of hundreds of years of suffering in your lineage and the entwined lineages of your kin near and far, and that's a pretty serious thing to process in the body and we don't talk enough about how important that processing is to effective changemaking

This is critical, and applicable to so much of what we see going on in the world. Don't throw the Nazis out of office; dismantle the systems that enabled them.
If you're focusing only on the people in the Epstein files, you're missing the bigger picture.

Many of the people I'm close to don't feel everything as intensely in their bodies as I do, and they just don't understand what it's like. It's really hard to explain the subjective experience of feeling the pain of the world's suffering children every day.

Healing work is what keeps me alive
