A Boxing Day snowstorm rules. There were like 5 people at the grocery store and I otherwise have barely left the couch. Season's greetings.

I think that's a wrap on my show list for 2025: 41 entries. github.com/ruhee/show-a...

Something about this year that has probably never happened since I started tracking: I read more books (44 and counting) than I attended shows, and that show list is not short! Cool.

Just finished this. I had it on hold since January 16, 2022. It was worth the wait!
I've had the 18-hour unabridged audiobook of A Short History of Nearly Everything on hold at TPL for *four years* (January 2022). I started around 1700th in line and thought I'd never get it. They recently acquired *130* additional copies (???!!!) and now I am listening to it. A Christmas miracle.

Petty gripe: I've seen an uptick in Canadian stores offering Black Friday sales and NOT Boxing Day sales. Fuck off with that American bullshit, I will buy my discount toaster on December 26th as the QUEEN INTENDED

I've shared this more than once before but I just re-read it and it's still so good. electricliterature.com/a-perfect-bo...

Two things in one... I wrote about the 2025 Blue Jays after their excruciating World Series loss ruheedewji.com/2025/11/06/f...

I really liked this and I especially love the illustration of squatting giant books.

went into this very skeptical of this lady and obviously seeing the replies to this piece, but i feel like everyone should read the whole thing. her story is complex and i feel like getting death threats for this is... insane.

Every year I like to share this version of "Silver Bells" I helped make (you can hear me playing saxophones & singing gang vocals). It's sad and wistful and messy and joyful all at the same time, the way the holidays tend to be. cedarstriprocketship.bandcamp.com/track/silver...
