Remember sitting in history, thinking “If I was alive then, I would’ve…”

You’re alive now. Whatever you’re doing is what you would’ve done.
Let’s be clear: this is class warfare.

Tens of thousands of working-class Americans are going to die because of this “deal.”

Real people. Real deaths. For another tax break for the rich.

Those who voted for it — Republicans and Democrats — are on the side the 1%, fighting against the rest of us.
This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Of course a little over half the people getting SNAP food aid *have jobs*. They just aren't earning enough money to feed their families and pay rent etc too. And many are simply between jobs, are applying for them. And even if the SNAP recipient doesn't work--does that mean we starve their children?

Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

They told us to make phone calls, attend meetings with our representatives, and to take to the streets. So we did. Then we went without education, social services and food. We fight Nazis in the street. And we were just starting to learn mutual aid so we could hold out longer. What did they do?

If you still have a Washington Post subscription, cancel it.
Update: In 3 recent editorials, WaPo failed to disclose owner Jeff Bezos's interest in the matter under discussion.

WaPo added one disclosure after @bgrueskin.bsky.social called it out.

Two weeks after my story, the other two editorials still have none. And the paper still won't say why
'Washington Post' editorials omit a key disclosure: Bezos' financial ties
Three times in the past two weeks, editorials at the 'Washington Post' failed to disclose that they focused on matters in which owner Jeff Bezos had a material interest.

Look up "Sucker" in the dictionary, and you will find photos of Sen. Shaheen and her fellow Dem capitulators. A stinking blend of cowardice and stupidity.

I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

There will be another 60 vote Friday* on the garbage shutdown deal. If we can convince just one Senator from the 52 republicans and 8 Dems that voted yes to flip, we could still stop this. Please jump on the phone today, call them, and share this widely.
