Are nano-targeting tools capable of creating more persuasive climate communications, or broad appeal messages still the best way to move audiences on climate?

I think it’s fair to say that “field of study” becomes increasingly relevant to understand social and political patterns. Here a blog I wrote about the revival of my PhD work in political science, with a proper replication by @liesbethooghe.bsky.social et al. hermwerf.substack.com/p/field-of-s...

Ok. Fair. Thanks Tom. Apologies for my slightly snarky comment.

This is a really relevant point. Thanks Victor.
NKO shows that most Dutch voters are fine with their second (or third) choices, that’s why everyone decides so late

Thank you Erik. Exactly right. Appreciate that.

Fun! And agree. Pure PR wasn’t a huge issue in the past because pillarisation meant most voters voted for the large “people’s parties” (PvdA, CDA, VVD) anyway. But with traditional party loyalties dead and buried, it’s now a complete free-for-all. The electoral system needs modernising.

Interesting idea. Need to think about that. Nothing to stop the parties forming larger parliamentary groups now, though.

I’m certainly not a fan of the British system, and have long been a supporter of PR in the UK

To reduce the number of parties, which makes governing the country easier and more effective. If you think the way the NL government works is fine, then no need to change anything.

I don’t “insist” on anything. People are free to vote for who they want. Just trying to encourage a (little) bit more consolidation.

Thanks Toine. Just trying to kick start a debate. Need to persuade Labour, D66, CDA and VVD - established parties who are at risk of further fragmentation.
