Mainstream journalists love to say that "objectivity" is a "traditional" value in journalism, but that is absolutely not the case. It is a modern writing/editing style that came with the professionalization of what was previously a blue-collar job.
Once again I recall the young woman I worked with at WaPo who quit in frustration in 2014 with, "They hate Obama because he's Black! I don't know why we can't just say it!"
