@velveteenrabbi.bsky.social we’re gonna need to watch this with your Sir Toby at some point…!
Heads up that this production (which also stars Lupita Nyong'o as Viola, and her brother Junior as Sebastian) will be airing on PBS on Friday night. I cannot WAIT.
I mostly do not miss the East Coast, except when I find out Peter Dinklage and Sandra Oh starred in Twelfth Night at Shakespeare in the Park, which New Yorkers could go see for FREE

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Stop.

The Rs lost to me four times in six years. That should've been a hint. But apparently it wasn't, so the voters made their thoughts crystal clear tonight.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

Thisssssssss
The real lesson is to put an actual hard number on income categories instead of shit like "the top 10%." People ALWAYS massively overestimate what percentile they're in, but a hard number for comparison lets them say oh yeah, fuck the rich, I ain't ever gonna see that number in my life.
This is how it looked on the ballot.
Clear and easy to understand.

There is a balm in Gilead
they call the Rising Sun.
There is a balm in Gilead
and Lord, I know I'm one.

Through many dangers, toils, and snares
the tiny bot was tossed.
This grace that brought me safe thus far
or the Minnow would be lost.

In this, as in every case, no one should cede ground willingly, or in advance. The way to muck up this machine is to fight it at every single juncture, even if it is futile. Most of what they're doing, especially the EOs, relies on psychological intimidation to generate compliance. Always fight.

hi, cis folks!

the comment period for the proposed rule to remove trans care from the ACA as an essential health benefit is open til april 11. it also strips care from DACA recipients.

context & guidance in the thread. none of these people can afford to pay OOP for meds now.

only 2 days left!
hi, cis folks!

if we *are* going to talk ACA, RFK's HHS proposed a rule to remove *all trans care* from ACA essential health benefit status.

~25mil people are insured by ACA & if 1% are trans, that's 250,000 people who'd lose access to care.

that's bad! take 2 minutes to stand with trans people.🧵

There's a quote a lot of people know about the Right, attributed often to political scientist Frank Wilhoit:

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

JUST BECAUSE THE CLOWN CAR GOES VERY FAST DOES NOT MEAN IT ISN’T FULL OF CLOWNS
the speed at which these guys have broken everything has given a lot of folks who should know better the impression that they are an unstoppable force and the only option is to negotiate the terms of surrender

just because the clown car goes very fast does not mean it isn’t full of clowns
Whatever the immediate fallout of the scandal, what is going to stick around is the impression it gives, of hapless idiots doing ridiculous things. And I think that seriously reduces the appeal of capitulating to these jokers.
