This is a newspaper that published numerous stories about a 17 year old from Uganda checking a box on a college form that said “African American”
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates

Alan Dershowitz will never leave Martha’s Vineyard and they won’t even sell him a pierogi
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

this is exactly right. it makes sense that you would focus endlessly on discourse when you don’t actually *know* anything about the world.

just a reminder that King folded in September. don't believe he ever voted against cloture.

not sure he really is the guy to talk to re: what the people who moved their votes were thinking.
Straightforward confirmation from Angus King that the gang of eight made the deal out of earnest concern for the filibuster. www.pressherald.com/2025/11/13/w...

So ironic the day after it comes out that NYT didn’t follow up on Epstein leads

By themselves, *each* of Access Hollywood, the Mueller Report, January 6th, the classified documents case, the E. Jean Carroll verdict, and the 34 felony convictions in New York should all have individually ended Trump's political relevance. ALL OF THOSE ARE CAREER-ENDING SCANDALS.

What makes Trump so infuriating is that we've known he was like this *since 2016*, when the Access Hollywood tape was released! None of this is surprising! But because the media wants to appear "balanced" and not cover the GOP less favorably, the public has never really grasped how evil he is.
the things that are actually contained in government releases and leaks from epstein's email account alone are so deranged that anyone hearing them without context would think you were having a psychotic episode

I was at NYT for 7 years & one of a dozen reporters who investigated Epstein’s interactions w/the rich & powerful. I don’t know every conversation held at every level there, but I do know we dedicated ourselves to exposing those who supported Epstein & engaged in the abuse of girls he facilitated

This might even be true of this specific team but it’s obviously not true of the NYT at large. Trump’s extensive involvement with Epstein has been known for years and has always been downplayed by this newspaper

Anyway, NYT and Trump

I genuinely don't know if they're playing dumb, i think it's real for a lot of them. I've worked in male-dominated industries long enough to know that a lot of men hide their real reactionary colors until they think they can trust you
It’s very enervating to watch intelligent and educated people play dumb about this amidst the ascendance of a far-right reactionary movement driven by antisocial Silicon Valley psychos and Miami crypto scammers who all treat women as status symbols on the same level as NFTs and Labubus.
he’s a provider of access to money, connections and beautiful women and girls — everything that these people need to affirm their own status. being rich and powerful is a grift which requires other to bolster & buy in. That’s the service Epstein provided.
