It’s pretty wild that the local police union president has been telling national outlets that we need the national guard in Portland & sympathizing with federal agents kidnapping our neighbors but no local outlets feel like that is newsworthy.
Portland Police Association President Aaron Schmautz must be pretty sad that Trump isn’t allowed to send troops into Portland.

President Donald Trump has signaled he wants to send National Guard units into Portland, Ore., in order to protect the city as well as ICE facilities, which he said have come under attack by Antifa…

The fact him or one of his staffers would post this on *this* platform is yet another sign of how unfit this man is to do anything other than retire.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare
We will keep fighting

I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Call a Senator that voted no tonight and demand that they vote to remove Chuck Schumer as Senate Minority Leader.
He has weaponized his incompetence against the American people by allowing 8 Dem Senators to cave to an authoritarian regime. We need real leadership, not the oligarchy’s lapdog

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him
And they should, given this is his fault.
And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.

Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.
Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.
He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

to be fair, I don't think this will blow back on Democrats in the general electorate. I think it could prove fatal among the kind of tuned-in base voter that drives primaries.
Mitch McConnel's singular political insight is that Presidents get punished for Congressional obstinancy and he used that insight to get the Right an unbreakable majority on the Supreme Court, so of course Chuck Schumer's iteration on it is to proactively let democrats take blame after tangible harm

Jeffries vs Chuck Schumer CR infighting 👀
If even Jeffries is demanding that we hold the line for ACA & more, it shows how out of touch Schumer (primary 2028) & other Sen Dems are on this.
If establishment Senators fold, they are betraying the American people

the thing is, I think 'normie American concerns' include 'ICE kidnapping squads in our neighborhoods' to a far greater extent than people like Klobs here will admit, and that is a potential problem to be addressed in the 2026 primary cycle

This is the dumbest “scandal” I’ve ever seen.
He’s never hit on them, follows a bunch of randoms (Ryan Grim) & is a pastor that actually follows the Gospel—loving thy neighbor, SWs included.
So 47 is an adjudicated rapist & the GOP is covering for pedos, but this is newsworthy? Axios is a joke

James Talarico, a Texas Democrat running for U.S. Senate who has put his faith at the forefront of his campaign, follows several adult film performers, escorts and OnlyFans models on Instagram, according to an Axios review.
Faith-forward Texas Senate candidate follows porn actors, escorts online
James Talarico has become a sensation in Texas politics by talking about how his Christianity is the basis for his progressive politics.

the thing about this is that a) small states do not have any interests that are inherent to their size (no less than james madison understood this) b) the senate is organized along party lines which makes the small/big distinction almost irrelevant and c) the filibuster has never been used this way
Underrated aspect of killing the filibuster is making pundit hacks at Cook Political p-p-p-piss their pants
