The culture of disposability around criminalized people set us up for this moment, and to fight fascism, we are going to have to rage against that culture of disposal. Submitting to it (or hiding behind it) is an egregious form of surrender.

Nothing beats collaborating with comrades in person on something good.

Relatively new to social circles formed around shared political ideals and values. And damn. They’re better 😬

I’ve wasted a LOT of time trying to make friends into activists when I should’ve been making activists into friends.

Oh no. I’m kinda unexpectedly gutted by this. You just expect survivors to keep on surviving forever.
RIP Alice Wong. You taught me a lot.

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

This is top-notch.

"Now is the time to find a political home for that battle. Everyone has skills that can contribute to the cause. Perhaps it’s taking notes in union meetings, signing up for ICE-watch training, or phonebanking to keep voters engaged. Even one small task matters."
Zohran showed that a socialist can take City Hall—but the ruling class still forced him to keep Jessica Tisch at the NYPD. For Zohran to fight the police unions and win, the Left has to build power beyond the ballot box.

If We Want Mamdani to Beat the NYPD, the Left Must Build Power
We won’t be able to push Mamdani, or anyone else, to undermine police power unless we become a force to be reckoned with.

This is the one.

I was recently told this position was, “the most absurd, out of touch, New York City bullshit,” someone had ever heard.

Which I took as a huge compliment cus god knows this city pumps out some high quality absurd bullshit.
We should abolish automobiles
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Opened up LinkedIn for maybe the third time this year, because it is the sad place, only to immediately see an ICE ad.

And delete. For ever I think. Nothing good comes from LinkedIn.

The network used five-year-old footage, mislabeled other dates and implied footage from elsewhere was in Portland.

After reviewing coverage from the network and hours of social media videos that preceded Trump’s decision, ProPublica found that Fox’s portrayal of “Portland rioters” routinely instigating violence was misleading.

People outside NYC, especially those who don't live in very large cities, often can't comprehend the scale of the subway ridership

4 and a half MILLION rides in one day is a lot of people

and almost every single one of them got where they were going without incident and went on their way
Recent subway ridership records:

Busiest post-COVID day, Wednesday, 10/29: 4,589,477
Busiest post-COVID Friday, 10/31: 4,428,750
Busiest post-COVID Sunday, 11/2: 2,825,658
2nd busiest post-COVD Saturday, 11/1: 3,093,309

This is how people get around NYC.

there’s this really dumb idea among the brain dead liberal punditocracy that you shouldn’t even mention ICE but nah this guy ran aggressively against them in a purple center/center-right county and won.
NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.
