Oh.
NEW: Records reviewed by WIRED show DHS’s facial recognition app (Mobile Fortify) isn’t designed to actually "verify" identity—despite DHS claims and its agents relying on its matches to support probable cause in the field.
ICE and CBP’s Face-Recognition App Can’t Actually Verify Who People Are
ICE has used Mobile Fortify to identify immigrants and citizens alike over 100,000 times, by one estimate. It wasn't built to work like that—and only got approved after DHS abandoned its own privacy r...

They're like children, pushing and pushing until they find the limits of what they're allowed to do, because nobody ever tells them "no". Eventually they become completely untethered from reality, wanting to remake the world solely for their personal enjoyment and convenience.
I firmly believe that we have an epidemic of affluenza. Our wealthy are off their rockers. Too much money making life too easy leading to incurable boredom and bad ideas. We need to use high taxes at the top and high minimum wage and other structural limits to cure them before they kill us all.

THREAD. ICE is in the news, and rightly so, but a lot of the commentary fails to see how the underlying surveillance tech, militarization, infrastructure, policies/practices/training, and corporate profiteers are shared by other domestic agencies and repressive bureaucracies in other countries.

Today I wrote about the Epstein files, the abusiveness intrinsic to the billionaire mindset, and our culture's enabling instinct to permit depravity as a privilege of power.

"Where does it all end?" That's what's often asked. Rarely asked is "how do we end it?"

They have no juice, yes, but actually they literally don't have any people. Just like how the entire Jake Lang march couldn't fill a short bus. Far-right internet are grifters at the top, enough confused Facebook creeps to keep them paid, and then it's bots all down the line.
cannot stress enough that a big time nazi guy posted the links to basically every signal group and….nothing happened. people made new links and some were a little more paranoid for a bit but these amoeba-brained losers had no idea what to actually do with it
it’s so funny that right wing nazis leaked the links to a bunch of the signal chats but like, don’t know how to use that information to mess with anything cause they’re all fucking stupid

Something I've been trying to impart on people is that the ICE occupation in Minnesota is both an ethnic cleansing and an ideological terror campaign. It's clear that the second part has utterly failed; the community is not terrified. But ICE is now desperately trying to salvage the first part.

And this is why Dems aren't talking about clearing out the concentration camps. They fuckin' love their prisons, they invented the family separation policy and gave that particular thumb (Tom Homan, he might be still relevant) a medal for doing a heckuva job at deporting people.
In June of 2015, this family detention center held 1,735 people, 1,000 of which were children.

Before Trump ever walked down that escalator, this place has been full of children.
January 29, 2026 at 6:39 AM
you can't fucking reform this.
It seems that Tom Homan’s shift to a more humane approach is just ICE agents targeting local schools. Reports of parents getting abducted outside of schools, agents entering schools, hanging out around children’s bus stops.

Very little if anything seems to have changed on the ground. ICE is still out there terrorizing neighborhoods and trying to disappear neighbors. None of us on the ground are buying this bullshit. We will keep organizing and fighting.
The intense fallout from the killing of Alex Pretti has forced President Trump to publicly change course in Minneapolis.

Listen to our White House reporters discuss the changes on today's episode of "The Daily."

The aggregation of 22 separate federal agencies, most of which had nothing to do with each other, into DHS was the second most corrosive post-9/11 action taken (after the passing of the PATRIOT Act) and I will die on that hill
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
