If LGBTQ+ folks make you feel uncomfortable, that is absolutely a 'you' problem. It's not up to marginalised folks to hide or change to accommodate your feelings, it's up to you to harden the fuck up and get over yourself.

So I have to pay more on my power bill, which is powered by hydro - a long term investment in energy security made by a past National Govt - to pay for a gas terminal which will be entirely beholden to foreign gas markets, a dying industry.

agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with

I totally get that we can’t expect local communities to pay the full price of these climate related costs through rates but central government can’t push costs off their balance sheet on to local government and then also pretend those councils can cap rates - it’s so troubling and irresponsible

If you feel like your Electricity bill is out of control – it is. Prices are up 11.5% this year alone. Prices are up 21% from 2023, with the majority of the increase happening since June 2024. Don’t worry though – the government is planning on adding to your bill with a new tax!
