Democracy is the way. Truth and justice matter.

Russia can end the war today by leaving Ukraine.

Less proud to be an American than I used to be. I really thought we were better than this.

TrumpAdmin's goal:
Pressure a bad deal on Ukraine, so that they can do business with Russia.

Status:
US is failing completely. They will not be able to pressure Ukraine into capitulation, because they do not understand the actors, their goals, or their strengths/weaknesses.

Russia's goal:
Prevent US from imposing meaningful sanctions, and divide the West.

Status:
Ru is succeeding well in its goals. US is doing nothing to end the war, which requires stronger pressure on Russia. US is threatening allies with war, which both Russia and China are very happy with.

Trump is building a network of large-capacity, rapidly-deployed, concentration camps.

“converts the US into a ‘geographic region’ for expeditionary military-style detention. …it is the difference between a temporary surge and a permanent infrastructure.”

Why are Dems still voting to fund this?

The problem is bigger than Minneapolis, bigger than ICE, and bigger than Trump. Violence against protesters is on the rise in the U.S. and all over the world, reflecting a horrifying escalation of authoritarianism, and an elite disregard for basic democratic freedoms.

And the media is barely blinking…

People underestimate the scale of the war in Ukraine and often don’t realize that Russia is committing genocide.

In Mariupol alone, the death toll in three months may have exceeded the total deaths in Gaza over the entire war, despite a much smaller population. Think about that!

The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty will expire this week. If it does, it will mark the first time since the 1970s that there will be no legally binding limits on US and Russian strategic nuclear forces.

It's rare to see how lobbyists operate. But the Epstein-Mandelson correspondence shows us what happens all the time: plutocrats and government ministers conspiring against the public interest. This is why all lobbying should be in the public domain, but despite Labour and Con promises, it's not. 🧵
