Democracy is the way. Truth and justice matter.

Russia can end the war today by leaving Ukraine.

Less proud to be an American than I used to be. I really thought we were better than this.

The senate had a hearing with top officials from Tesla and Waymo today about their self-driving cars and taxis.

It makes sense to have nationwide, uniform standards for these things, but only if they protect citizens rather than the companies.

In political science, there's a longstanding metric for this called DW-NOMINATE. It's been validated and used for decades.

It shows the opposite of the graph in the first post. And it matters a lot more.

“In this White House, Christopher Columbus is a hero,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said.

I'd bet that some on this court wanted to stop this, but there was no logical way to make a case for letting Texas's new maps go forward, and then stop a state that actually put it on the ballot and let the voters approve it. Thomas and Alito probably took an extra month trying to figure one out.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will not stop the use of California's new congressional maps in this year's midterm elections.

The court rejected California Republicans' effort to stop the use of the new maps. There were no noted dissents and no opinion.

The story of these mistakes seems simple. Border crossings swelled when Biden took office and plunged when he left. Right?

Wrong. In fact, the Biden-era spike in border crossings started before Biden took office and ended before he left office

A new study shows that border policies under both Biden and Trump had relatively small effects on border crossings.

Also worth noting, for those confused: VMI is not a federal military academy like West Point or the Naval Academy.

It’s a public *state* school that operates under the government of Virginia, and the *governor* is technically the commander-in-chief of the school — not the federal government.

I just checked Pacer.

Julie Le entered appearance in 28 cases that have filing dates of Jan 27 or later. I don't have words for that one, someone else is gonna have to fill in those details.
If that's right, she's gotten assigned at least eight in less than the last ten days.

Maybe I'm below the mean in terms of stamina, but I am confident that I could not provide competent representation for that many of that kind of case in that kind of timeframe.

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.
