Another reject star for this quilt! It's cute, but I think I want something bigger for the last one. I save the rejects and extras and whenever possible sneak them into other quilts. This quilt has several repurposed blocks.

I kind of like the way this quilt looks upside down! It's giving me ideas

Borders are done! Time to start the applique. I haven't done bats before, so I'm nervous about this.

A few more inches added to the top of this quilt.

Legos. They were "too commercial". I'd have loooooooved legos. I had one friend for a while with legos and it was great playing at her house... until her parents discovered we went to the "wrong church" and were therefore nonpersons. Ah, Christian fellowship, lol!
What was the one thing you wanted so bad as a kid and your parents didn’t get for you just because they didn’t like them?

Canopy bed for me. My mom hates them.

A hero whose heroism consists of killing people is uninteresting to me, and I detest the hormonal war orgies of our visual media, the mechanical slaughter of endless battalions of black-clad, yellow-toothed, red-eyed demons.

Reading anything is better than reading nothing. Even if all you read are comic books, graphic novels, plays, or story rich video games, enjoying stories will always enrich your brain and soul. You don’t have to read thick novels twice a week to enjoy literature and the beauty of story telling.

Trans rights are civil rights. If you aren't willing to die on the hill of trans rights, then you aren't willing to die on the hill of Black rights. Of Jewish rights. Of disabled rights. Of gay rights. Of anyone's rights. Human rights.
I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

And even if your work isn't seeking to make a huge political statement - People need Art.

We need it like air. Because we need a safe harbour for thought and expression and just plain old fun.

We need joy and we need to remember the good things about life outside of survival.

I didn't even know who tf he was until my (more online than me) wife came dancing into the kitchen to gloat about his death.
I think the regime is exaggerating both the popularity of Charlie Kirk and the impact of his death--I haven't had a single meatspace conversation about it.

We will never defeat Trumpism in this country so long as we accept the idea that some kinds of people are not as good as others.

It's liberty and justice for all, all the way, for everyone, without a single asterisk.

I knit socks. I'm not good at it. They don't look great and they don't last more than a few wearings. But I enjoy making them for myself.
we really need to uncouple "doing [thing] makes me feel joy" and "I am good at [thing]"

they're not the same!

I am only okay at drawing, but I still think it's fun. I'm not great at dancing, but I like it! and I'm never gonna win any contests but I still love to sing
also the assertion that it's unpleasant to learn to do art is ??? to me. I'm doing this because I like it? I always have, right from the start?

that's not to say it was never frustrating! it's often frustrating! even now my work often falls short of my vision. but I do it because... I like doing it
