i genuinely think google maps ruined the experience of driving—people think they’re entitled to get places in 21 minutes exactly or whatever the fuck the app says and they plan accordingly. leave a little early! take your time! chill!!!
I say this not even to scold bad drivers, but to help people life a more stress-free life:

It really cannot be stressed enough that if we don’t have birthright citizenship we don’t have citizenship.

it feels like deja vu all over again; uber and lyft were supposed to complement and not compete with public transit, eliminate drunk driving, reduce car ownership, etc. and then instead they just vomited thousands of cars onto the streets to circle the block for eternity

There’s also 0 evidence that Waymos are sufficiently replacing human car trips. The data from Uber and Lyft’s similar rollout suggests that Waymo might actually be replacing transit/walking/biking trips more than *half* the time. That’s a lot of extra cars on the road for minimal returns in safety.

If you drive Lyft or Uber, stop waiting at the bus stop to pick people up, esp at big venues. You are creating unsafe conditions. 1. The buses have to stop _in_ the lane of moving traffic, and they block you in. 2. People waiting have to cross in front of a car to get on the bus. 3. You are a jerk.
