This is also how I feel about crypto and the block chain.

And TBF I haven't gotten an email about how the block chain will save the environment in years.

I'm playing the long game here.

I honestly think if I don't pay attention to AI it will go away.
Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

St Paul rejecting a drive through ban for only the best reasons. Among them: they don't want to force drunk maniacs to get out from behind the wheel of their car because they might create a public safety problem while on foot.

There is such a narrow range of businesses which can even work with a drive-thru. If drive-thrus were truly an accessibility win, every business would have one; maybe even be an ADA requirement. But they don't, because drive-thrus aren't actually for accessibility, they're for driver convenience
Two things can be true: Drive-throughs make walking trickier for disabled pedestrians and parents with small kids, while making food pick-up, banking and getting pharmacy meds a whole lot easier for both groups. The debate resumes Wednesday. www.twincities.com/2026/02/17/s...
St. Paul seeks to regulate — not eliminate — drive-throughs
A public hearing put on pause in 2024 will resume on Wednesday.

This is shortline railroading: a train of four cars, probably bound for 3 different industries. It's the "last mile" connection from a transcontinental rail network to small town businesses and a remnant of a time where railroads carried just about everything to just about everywhere.

The thing about the Boston Massacre— the fruits of arbitrary power— was not that the colonists were universally in the right. Things were thrown at the soldiers. But, the presence of a standing army escalated conditions. The use of force that night was not proportional. Citizens died needlessly.

Taunting is not a justification for arbitrary executions. Collective guilt is contrary to the rule of the law. Resisting the state— even if unlawful and prosecutable—doesn’t justify a death sentence. Our colonial ancestors rejected that agents of the state are absolutely immune for their wrongdoing.

Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

Not only this, but Google Maps will give bad directions and create congestion in areas in places it shouldn't be, because it technically saves 30 seconds

Not to mention the dangerous maneuvers made when people miss a GPS instruction

GPS seems to cause as much driving anxiety as it cures
i genuinely think google maps ruined the experience of driving—people think they’re entitled to get places in 21 minutes exactly or whatever the fuck the app says and they plan accordingly. leave a little early! take your time! chill!!!
I say this not even to scold bad drivers, but to help people life a more stress-free life:

If you stop worrying about driving as fast as you can and stop getting annoyed at other people on the road your life will improve dramatically. You'll get there fine, relax and listen to your favorite podcast
