I SO hope that Edmonton's new mayoral initiatives are not blocked, so @andrewknack.bsky.social's excellent ideas come into fruition!
(Maybe the regional collaboration could include bike tourism as well as regional bus routes?)

Nice piece on ecargo bikes
(note the author specifies "smug" is under the more ambiguous British meaning).
"Convenience, more than, say, environmentalism, is driving the boom. " - this is the key to unlocking it at scale. As well as the option of the second car replacement
This week I wrote about the rise of the e-bike dad - this piece was originally going to run alongside the story I did in September about the bike boom in general, and we didn't have space in print, but here it is:

I feel like the business community in Canada is just not getting the message - there is no miracle deal with Trump and any arrangement we make will be immediately upended when he somehow takes offence at some trivial thing.

It's pleasing to see unedited press scrums, instead of teensy news clips. That's why I've started watching the Daily Recaps on CPAC. Eg: today, Anita Anand showed much patience as she tried to speak on _foreign affairs_ issues discussed by the G7 foreign ministers: www.cpac.ca/en #CDNpoli

Remembrance Day at Yeg's Prince of Wales Armouries, with friends performing in the Heritage Concert Band was lovely; so many families, veterans of all ages. Of course, I wept through Oh Canada. The annual #LestWeForget seems futile but what else can we do? open.substack.com/pub/research...? #CDNpoli
Futility of “Lest We Forget”
Remembering the great-uncle I never knew, Donald Young-Leslie, who enlisted Dec 30, 1914, survived the Battle of Vimy Ridge, and died, May 18, 1917 (2023 original updated in 2025).

This morning's Low of around 2.9°C will be very close to November 10th's warmest Low on record, at 3.3°C from way back in 1895.
Today is supposed to be pretty warm, but to get to the record High we would need to get way up to 17°C, from 2005.

#yegbike As they work on the 111 ave MUP from 109 to 121 st, I see some things I like, and some big concerns. 109 st to 113 st is good - except for the signal pole location (in the path when so easy to go around it). The ramp up to it from the west needs to be bigger to the north though.

Guy covered his licence plate with a cloth grocery bag when I moved to take a picture of the back of the car. Guess he actually knew driving the wrong way down a big lane then parking isn’t allowed
