This is also I suspect why so many trans folks end up in utterly abusive relationships pre-transition, because if we are willing to bury such a core part as gender, then there are so many other things we will do to maintain conditional love.
And abusive people can read that willingness in us.

The biggest realisation for most people who transition after the age of 30 is not that they are trans but rather that love can be unconditional.

some 20 years ago, Laura Jane Grace described what has been my experience thus far:

"Will everyone
you ever meet or love
Be just a relationship based
on a false presumption?
Despite everyone
you ever meet or love
In the end,
will you be all alone?"

In case anyone thought I was joking about the cost of "Fashions in Hair - the first 5000 years"

This book is an incredibly valuable reference and pretty difficult to get your hands on.

It contains hundreds of sketches of (predominantly western) historical hair styles, with a bibliography.

I've completely lost interest in debating generative models or how big tech has almost completely transitioned into an authoritarian political project. These days what I try to do is just mentally flip the bozo bit on anybody still defending this shit and then do my best to move on.

I feel like we could write an essay on this.
you can put a (very femme!) cis woman in the mental state of being a trans woman merely by accusing her of being trans

If people want to know why I hate and fear the Australian summern, read this thread.

It's that plus I will burn in the sun if caught out for more than 5 minutes without protection. Even without a heatwave.
I got burnt looking for the car in the car park the other day.
For many years I lived in an apartment without aircon. My list of places I could go to escape the heat in metro Melbourne

Growing up I thought cheese and onion was only a flavour of chip.

It wasn't til I was 30 that I realised you can literally have cheese + raw* onion (ideally a less strong kind) . On own or or crackers or toast or etc.
And it's great.

*Or cooked onion, or pickled onion, or chopped and soaked onion

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE.

in 45 minutes the earth hits perihelion. This is the closest point it approaches the sun.

That means it will be going the fastest it goes in its orbit.

In honour of this, today is designated SPEED DAY.

sex with me is like random access memory manufacturing. precisely milled silicon wafers vastly important. a negatively pressurized facility. the slightest particle of dust can invalidate an entire day's work. it takes years of prep work to get started, let alone competitive. but everyone needs it.

If I had a dollar for every doctor who has taken a Hippocratic oath but refused to provide me healthcare that's specifically to do with being trans because they "don't really do that kind of thing", I'd have eight bucks, and still be $172 short for an appointment with my gender care specialist
kinda bullshit that my new GP was completely unconcerned about managing my Ménière's disease -- a complicated probably autoimmune condition that could randomly flare.
But was like "I can do repeats on your HRT but if you need to change anything with it the you will have to see a specialist"

Socially, transition is a lot like the movie Reservoir Dogs (1992). You make new friends and start getting into discourse, old hands are there giving advice to newbies, there's a bald man assembled entirely out of hams who gives you your new name, you can trap a cop in the boot of your car and tortu
