Pat McAfee blown away to learn San Francisco is not what conservative media makes it out to be
Pat McAfee spent a lot of time this week praising San Francisco and saying it's not the city many have made it out to be.

Conservative bs aside, Pat McAfee unironically assumes that an hr south of SF is "the sticks". Nope...it's a Silicon Valley city that has a pop of 100k+ and a private university.

I feel like conservatives would lose it if they understood how huge the SF Bay area is. So. Many. Liberals.

Welp, it's a start. Let's see if the Dem leadership can hold their caucuses together to actually get these things done.

Per my last quote post...
How many STEM Ph.D.s were lost from the U.S. federal government last year?

My colleagues @mghersher.bsky.social and @policyhound.bsky.social dug into a recent data release to find the answer. A @science.org exclusive.

DOGE fired thousands of federal employees who had real jobs that helped people...I'd rather my tax dollars go to hiring some of those folks back instead of going to ICE, whose "job" of terrorizing the public is something we as a country can definitely do without!
I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but these guys are paid with your tax money and have no real job. ICE isn't necessary. They don't get rid of criminals. They just terrorize communities. And THAT'S why they should be abolished. No need for reins. It's not a job!

Minnesota ICE-watchers did this.

By relentlessly documenting ICE/BP/DHS abuses—taking on personal risk to do so—they’ve gotten the horrors into more information streams. Got more people to pay attention, undermined Trump regime lies, and shifted the stances of some Democratic officeholders.

I’m seeing lots of people on here misunderstand the purpose of ICE watch.

It’s de-escalation. And it’s grounded in the social science of violence. 🧵

Vance's stance is, almost literally, "Well, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that. She asked for it."
When Vance insists, contra the videos, that Good threatened the ICE agent and "had it coming", what he means is that he, like Ross, feels threatened by any woman who has the audacity to use her voice in the public sphere.

This deeply misogynist worldview is core to MAGA.

She was protesting.

He told her to leave.

She was complying.

SHE TURNED THE WHEEL TO LEAVE.

Another agent tried to forcibly open her door.

She gave the car gas to leave.

He shot her in the face.

These are the facts of what happened.

The Department of Homeland Security is one of those changes of government, a reaction to 9/11 interwoven with the militarization of American society caused by the Iraq War, that got us to this bad point. We should undo it, @joshtpm.bsky.social writes.
