The Trump administration seems to have developed an entirely new model of colonialism. They're testing it right now--on Venezuela, on Cuba, on the world

If they pull it off, we will enter a horrific and unprecedented geopolitical era

I know what the policies say are irrelevant, because ICE has became a poorly-trained and intentionally-violent goon squad, but trying to suggest that police have a responsibility to kill you because you're doing a cautious third-point turn in a panic is fucking insane.

Charlie Kirk was a husband and a father. We heard it over and over again

Only certain types of people get to be husbands and fathers. Some people are simply civilians. Faceless, nameless and without consequence. Civilians die. It's what they do
The New York Times has just confirmed that 40 civilians died in President Trump's invasion.

This is the aftermath in one area

Using imagery online of the shooting by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, we’ve created an animated sequence which highlights the approximate positioning of officers and vehicles at the scene. The red dot represents the agent who fired the shots. Yellow dots are other agents who arrived at the scene.

Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

SHUT THE FUCK UP

(Walz is readying the National Guard in case of "unrest," which traditionally means protesters...but might not mean that this time)

ICE murdered a woman for driving away from them. The video is very clear

Governors must call up their National Guards and expel ICE from our cities. This administration is already at war with us, and state governments should not leave their people to fight ICE alone

With news of yet another DHS shooting breaking, a reminder that DHS’s initial statements should not be trusted without further verification, given previous post-shooting statements which crumbled under further investigation. In addition, be wary of short context-free video clips shared virally.
"My public safety team is working to gather information on an ICE related shooting this morning" near Portland Avenue and 34th Street in Minneapolis, says Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
"We will share information as we learn more. In the meantime, I ask folks to remain calm."

Trump's Venezuela strategy: control the country not with an invasion, but by threatening violence against the head of state personally

This strategy doesn't work in a democracy--too many people to threaten. It can only work against authoritarian states

There will never be elections in Venezuela

Venezuela is a test. TACO wants to see if the international community will legitimise it. If they do, Greenland will be next.

Like every abuser before him, Trump is testing his tactics on what people see as an acceptable victim before moving on to others.

People should do whatever they want I guess but I cannot imagine giving a single shit about Gavin Newsom either way with the news cycle we are currently having

Had not considered the angle where Venezuela is a means for Trump to get his own revenue stream and divest himself of Congress entirely but it tracks

I don't know who came up with the overall Venezuela strategy--it definitely wasn't Trump--but they're very smart and should probably burn in hell
If Trump is really stealing spending power from Congress then it would be insanity for Democrats to vote to fund the government later this month. Shut it down until the president stops wiping his ass with the Constitution.

..........it is the weirdest feeling, listening to this and being like "yes, I have had this problem, I know exactly what you mean...and it's fixed now?!!! What?!!"

Zohran's been mayor for 6 days and has already done more to help me directly than Adams ever did
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

I'm just gonna say it: a lot of smart technology seems dumb as hell
“When stationary, a software glitch can cause the wheel to turn itself back and forth without any input from the driver. It’s basically one step away from a nightmare scenario on the highway.”

Firstly, let’s all agree that 2026 will be the year to stop using the word “glitch” to describe bugs.
