Hmm yes… and I was also wondering who was buying and cooking the steak and eggs.

It doesn’t help that many academics regularly receive what are obviously AI-generated invitations to contribute to journals: “We saw you wrote an article ‘The architect of the image: Gregory of Nyssa’s anthropology’; would you like to write for our ergonomics journal?” !!
We’re getting so many journal submissions from people who think ‘it kinda works’ is the standard to aim for.

Whatever its flaws, the point with vibe coding is that you're trying to quickly make something that sorta works, where you can immediately sorta see if it sorta works and then sorta use it.

“The idea is to put ChatGPT front and center inside software that scientists use to write up their work in much the same way that chatbots are now embedded into popular programming editors.

It’s vibe coding, but for science.”

I’m excited to see this in print! The first fruits of a very profitable stay at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. Many thanks to them. I also have learned much from @dnewheiser.bsky.social whose careful probing of certain modes of speech has refined my own thought. Thank you!

She’s not a historian as such but she has a very fine historical sensibility in her writing.

Anything by Anna Pavord. (I think I remember her writing that when she had small children and she knew they were asleep and safe, she’d race to give herself a hour working in the garden. I think for many it’s about carving out their own space/time without having to leave the home.)
