Omar is a good person, the best person. A great poet, a great advocate, and a caring parent with a child who's just been diagnosed with leukemia.
It's taking a lot out of their small family. Please donate to their GoFundMe below.

Today we learned of a shocking amendment to the income apportionment bill that involves police in social security decisions.

We're joining the call for Labor to abandon police powers to stop Centrelink payments.

Why is @amyremeikis.bsky.social is the only one in the press gallery covering this?

Today is my youngest kid’s 24th birthday. I’m not sure how that happened. Has there really been that many years gone by? It doesn’t feel like I have enough memories in my head to fill all that time.

The ALP didn't bother negotiating with the Libs when it changed IR laws, but now apparently it needs LNP support for environmental protection changes.

When govts want to do something, they do it.
When they don't, they use bipartisanship as the excuse.

No one here should fall for it

I have had a lazy morning of a sleep in followed by scrambled eggs cooked by my eldest, birthday scones baked by my middle kid, and a pot of tea. If I’d had half a brain I’d have cancelled my work shift this afternoon and given myself the whole day off. But I didn’t. Oh well.

Today I went to my ex-boyfriend’s place to drop off a bag of his stuff and pick up the few things I wanted that I had left there. It was a very not fun experience and I am having trouble processing feeling like the worst person ever but also kind of angry about being massively guilt tripped.

I can’t find the right words. @asherwolf.bsky.social I’m sorry. Your work deserves recognition. You are owed so much better than this
The thing is, until you have personally experienced this kind of targeted operation it sounds like tinfoil hat or the ravings of someone who has lost their grip on reality.

And once it happens, almost no one will believe you if you so choose to confide. You end up alone, frozen

Great, at a time of heightened tension between religions, a leading politician decides to play favourites. Separation of church & state PROTECTS religious freedom, for ALL people of faith & this nonsense undermines that freedom.
Stunts like this--WITHIN parliament!--are unconscionable.
