Can we just spare a thought, too, for the official end of News Corp as a political force. No one outside an aging political class pays any attention to them.
Legacy and social media hot takes have trained a generation of people to think expressing pure outrage at politicians breaking laws and norms is somehow naive and unserious.

“In today’s fun reenactment of World War II, the part of Adolf Hitler will be played by Donald Trump, Venezuela will play the Sudetenland, while the role of Neville Chamberlain will be played by every other fucking leader in the world.”

Incredible how quickly Trump's insane criminality, now playing out in Venezuela, is transformed by 'serious people' into an 'oh well', like it's justifiable to invade other countries and kidnap their leaders. If our govt offers anything but outright condemnation, we have lost the plot.

"We live inside a billionaire-operated media landscape where every little & big thing that happens is part of a struggle to shape what we think & how we act and most of the time we don’t realise how we are being played. And look, even realising it doesn’t help."

There should be a law keeping Chris Minns off social media. He seems incredibly vulnerable to going down certain rabbit holes and coming up with stupid ideas.

After seeing Ley’s atrocious rant today, it is as well to remember this is the party John Howard destroyed projecting internal division out into the world. It’s ugly and dangerous, aided and abetted by an equally broken media, but it isn’t winning them any friends.

I see Australia’s cultural warriors, in and outside the mainstream media, are currently covering themselves in glory and not at all exploiting tragedy for ideological gain. Their commitment to social cohesion is inspiring.

"I've shifted position on this a little. At first I was completely dismissive, worried about the role of US anxiety entrepreneur, Jonathan Haidt, and the self-serving campaign run by News Corp based on his ‘work’. But it's more important than that."

You'd normally have to go to the coincidence factory to see a coincidence that perfect.
Scoop: the pro-teen social media ban lobby group 36 Months was funded & co-staffed by its co-founder's ad production firm that was simultaneously making gambling ads

The federal government has ignored calls for a gambling ad ban while pursuing the social media ban.

I’ll be disappointed in the market if you can’t already buy a clean social media record to enter the US in the same way you can buy clean piss for a drug test.

Will the social media ban be like shark nets?

They make people feel better - and politicians can say ‘look what we did to protect you’ - but really they don’t work, may make the issue worse - & stop real solutions being found & implemented 🤔🤔 #auspol
