So sorry to hear that the beautiful, acerbic Jon Kudelka has passed away from his brain cancer.
He was only one year older than me. His family should have had so many more decades with him.

Seonpotrdsm9g 5 4tf16gl m c5t15cch90t3ic9t97gmttlgc5tc1m8f 1 9a4m9 · We are sad to tell you that our beloved, brilliant Jon Kudelka died peacefully in South Hobart on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 53. Jon was deeply loved and admired by many, including fellow Tasmanians, the legions of fans of his inimitable art, countless newspaper readers over 30 years, and even by the politicians he relentlessly skewered in his award-winning cartoons (many of whom have his work on their walls). He loved his family, friends, making art in many forms, and firmly calling out political and anti-science bullshit with his typically dry wit and compassion. Jon was diagnosed with glioblastoma in early 2024 and faced treatment for two years with positivity and hope, supported by his wife, Maggie, teenage children Kay and Oskar, sister Liesl, and his many friends. Jon believed in showing up fully for life and embracing humour even in the hardest of times. In the past two years, he was heard many times to say, ironically, “good times”. Jon’s presence remains in the love he gave and the lives he touched. He will always be with us. Funeral details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Jon’s memory to The Bob Brown Foundation, Canteen Australia or The Menzies Institute for Medical Research.

@Nick_Davidov Asked Claude Cowork organize my wife's desktop, it stated doing it, asked for a permission to delete temp office files, I granted it, and then it goes "ooops" Turns out it tried renaming and accidentally deleted a folder with all of the photos my wife made on her camera for the last 15 years. All photos of kids, their illustrations, friends' weddings, travel, everything. It's not in trash, it was done via terminal It's not in iCloud, it already synced the new file structure. She didn't have Time Machine. Disc recovery tools can't see anything. I called Apple and they pointed me to a feature in iCloud allowing to retrieve files that were saved before but are no longer on iCloud Drive (they keep them for 30 days). I'm now watching it load tens of thousands of files. I nearly had a heart attack. Many of the participants themselves came from Jewish families who were heavily persecuted in the Holocaust

Israel killed a journalist in Lebanon yesterday. These attacks are so regular its hard to report on them before the next one already occurs. Again, this is all in the context of a supposed ceasefire, which the Israelis have violated, according to the UN, over 10,000 since Nov 27 2024.
