If you want to understand how the ABC ended up in this god awful cluster fiasco, harming the careers of @antoinettelattouf.bsky.social , Stan Grant, Emma Alberici, Yasmin Abdel Magid, Andrew Probyn, Nick Ross & the many that you don’t hear about, I explain it in my recent book:
The controversy engulfing the #BBC underscores the powerful forces that seek to undermine public broadcasting & that have also weakened the ABC. Pandering to those forces never works.

Karen Attiah, a Washington Post opinion writer fired this month for her social media posts about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, has filed a grievance arguing that she should have been allowed to share her views on news events under the company’s labor agreement and social media policy.

It's not just Jimmie Kimmel. Per Newsweek & other outlets, at least 33 people, including pilots, teachers, professors, & government employees, have been fired, suspended, or placed on leave over posts about Kirk’s death. If it happens to you, fight back: see your lawyer, & post it here. #ProudBlue

No-one was MAKING staff go to this session. If anyone felt unsafe hearing about children’s health during war, they could have just …. chosen not to attend.
It was obviously cancelled to ensure NO-ONE would talk about it.
Again and again: free speech silenced at the behest of an organised pro-Israel lobby group by weak-kneed management.
If people don’t stand up to this pressure there won’t be a single institution left in which anyone can talk about the genocide in Gaza.
