@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com OMG, stop mansplaining like we're all idiots. We know it's hard. They signed up for hard. The 8 were all veterans, this was not their 1st vote. Not even their 1st shutdown.

Does Bernie know? Do the other 38 Democratic know?

The party was coalescing. They fucked us.

forcing SCOTUS to block SNAP benefits (at which point Senate Dems could have thrown in the towel, blaming the Court).

And instead, Senate Democrats, under the "leadership" of Schumer, capitulated. surrendered. snatched defeat from the jaws of victory

Still processing the inanity of this cave, like, "We're going to make Republicans go on record that they want to destroy the ACA." You mean the motherfuckers who radicalized in opposition to it & voted to repeal it, like, 22 times? You're finally getting them on record? Really impressed over here

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

this is frankly reason alone to say "no deal" to anything for the next three years. but this isn't viewed as a worthy cause for the same reason anti-ice activities isn't viewed as a worthy cause for the same reason that there were no actions taken against gillibrand calling mamdani a "jihadist".

To try and help clear up confusion going around BSky at the moment regarding the gov’t shutdown:

The Democratic Party folded. They agreed to re-open government for a PROMISE of a vote.

Yes, SNAP recipients suffered for *nothing*.

Yes, there was NO ACA extension.

Yes, they accepted ALL the blame.

Have some fun with it:

CONSERVATIVE SUPREME COURT SEEKS BETTER VEHICLE FOR OVERTURNING GAY MARRIAGE THAN KIM "EVERYTHING ABOUT ME SAYS I SUCK LEMONS THROUGH MY TWAT" DAVIS.
If you really have to put it in all caps, I would suggest this framing instead

SHOCKINGLY, CORRUPT MAGA SUPREME COURT COURT DECIDES NOT TO DISCRIMINATE FURTHER AGAINST THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY BY RESCINDING SAME SEX MARRIAGE

Don't celebrate SCOTUS for this decision. They don't deserve it

Trump really, really loves to call things that absolutely do not fit the definition of "hoax" "hoaxes."
Watch Karoline Leavitt twist herself into knots trying to explain how the Epstein case is a "hoax" but the Epstein files are legitimate, all while claiming that the letter signed by Trump is fake even though it was given to Congress by Epstein's estate.

We're all team fuck Esther Ghey now right? Like, parents should never be the focus of any advocacy anyway because we a)are not out children and b)many parents fucking hate their kids and who they are. But this parent especially can get fucked.
I have been trying to avoid this conclusion, as angry as this all makes me, but it's fucking undeniable at this point that in Esther Ghey's view the real tragedy of Brianna's life is that she was trans at all, which made her a target. Her advocacy smacks of railing against "social contagion".

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Maybe if people think the Democratic Party is "weak" it is not because they think that Democrats "care about other people" but that they "fold every single time."
This shit is why people don’t trust the Democratic Party.

The ACA fucking *sucks*, is a national shame, is confoundingly cruel and ineffective and insufficient and, also, simultaneously is SO MUCH MORE PREFERABLE to pre-ACA American healthcare it's not even close.
The thing about ACA is that if an American describes how it works to someone from literally anywhere else, the other person will be utterly horrified at its deliberate cruelty.

The way the horror of pre-ACA healthcare sounds to an American, is basically how ACA sounds to everyone else on earth.

Just utter abject failure. Unbelievable.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.
