Ooh, forgot to give my thoughts on this after watching!

So basically yeah, it's as great as it was sold to me, very emotional and hard-hitting. Just a couple of thoughts that really stood out to me:
This is on tonight on Channel 4. Strongly encourage people to watch. Can't speak to what it's like myself yet, but have heard from folks who have seen it that it's a really insightful and emotional exploration of intersex people's lives.

This week, an X user created an AI video of me being chloroformed and prepared for rape.

Victims are told it's not real and they're getting offended for no reason.

But nudification tools are weapons of sexual assault, and the harm they cause is real 👇

Relieved that he doesn't seem to be any relation to Avril.
The next speaker is, Jason Lavigne, host of The Lavigne Show. Lavigne says people describe separatists as traitors to shame and shut down conversations before they begin. "When people are labeled instead of listened to...it becomes about who gets to speak and who doesn't."

What about all the people who've had sex in cubicles?
JD Vance: "To our fellow Americans we say, you're never gonna find great meaning in a cubicle or in front of a computer screen. But you will find great meaning if you dedicate yourself to the creation and sustenance of human life."

I really do not see the value in publicising footage like this.
📽️ WATCH: Lucy Letby was arrested by police while still in bed and wrapped in her duvet, previously unseen footage shows.

The investigation into her crimes is to feature in a Netflix documentary about the former neonatal nurse ⬇️

"failed Horst Wesseling", or alternatively, "Shinzo Abeing"
books about this era are going to heavily feature the failed Horst Wesseling of Kirk. it was the first place where the regime wanted something, got elite buy-in, and it blew up in their face
just thinking again about how MAGA’s attempt to suppress all criticism of Charlie Kirk created a backlash so intense that he is now probably the most abjectly Internet-defiled person in human history

"legal systems... don’t typically contain mechanisms through which the interpretation of basic, everyday terms can be changed across the board"

What a silly thing to say. Of course they do. Parliament pretty routinely changes the legal meanings of terms, which courts are required to follow.
Checked out The Philosophers' Magazine, which has only gotten worse under its new EIC, Daniel Kodsi, who is a young reactionary with no experience. Its recent output is a whole lot of laughably bad anti-trans garbage. Look at this! The law operates under ordinary language philosophy?! What?

See, they really should've followed through on Husk/Chamber not least because then we'd have avoided the monstrosity of Husk/Angel.
Our Generation X Marathon continues as we get the REAL Monet. She's meaner, smarter and has WAY more sexual tension with Jubilee than before! Also Paige and Jono's will-they/won't-they might drive one of our hosts insane! Check it out! #xspoilers #xmen

Honestly in the long-term outlook, Linke becoming predominantly a party of young lefty women rather than Ostalgic boomers who miss the GDR is a good development.
fucking dying at the Linke numbers for 18-34 women

Spanberger dismissing Youngkin's education appointees was an important move. It will require actions that look partisan and political to restore nonpartisanship, competency and merit to government. (MAGA must be purged.) newrepublic.com/article/2054...
Abigail Spanberger’s First Move as Virginia Gov. Was a Masterstroke
Even moderate Democrats can be boldly anti-MAGA. Other centrist Democrats should follow her example.

Also, why would this be a surprise anyway? Virtually every major imperial army has men from colonised and marginalised groups. The US Army in WW2 also had Native Americans and African-Americans. The UK Army had Indians and Jamaicans and Maoris. The Red Army had Ukrainians and Kazakhs and Tatars.
i like how this person thinks this is an own instead of the fact that Japanese-Americans believed in America more than the fucking idiots that interned them

This is using a child as a human shield, it's a war crime.
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

I mean, he shouldn't chair the judiciary committee he because enabled young men in his care to be serially raped for years.
this is a weird take to me
i dont care about lawmakers having credentials like this
jim jordan shouldnt chair the judiciary committee cause he's a fucking conspiratorial buffoon, not because he didnt pass a test
Jim Jordan has never passed the bar exam. The fact that he serves as Chair of the House Judiciary Committee tells you everything about how seriously today’s Republican Party takes its responsibility for legal oversight.

At core, 1) is the principle that ethnic Turks in Germany have at some level chosen to be there and so it's reasonable for the state not to provide them with Turkish-language public facilities. By contrast, this would not be a reasonable approach for ethnic Turks in Greece and Bulgaria.
I'd broadly say there are two somewhat useful but distinct ways of using "indigenous":
1) a modern sense, to refer to ethnic minorities more culturally deeply-rooted in a polity than more recent immigrant or refugee communities
2) a historical sense, in contrast to invaders/colonisers
it would be good if we had separate words for 'the first people ever to settle a particular territory' and 'the people who were there when the early modern wave of European colonization hit', because 'indigenous' doing double duty for both often confuses people.
