I must not discourse.
Discourse is the mind-killer.
Discourse is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face the discourse.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

As daily goals, "stop fascism," "defeat evil," and "save the world" probably aren't going to get you anywhere, and might leave you feeling overwhelmed and helpless, but "work towards building something good" is always achievable, concrete, and useful.

Rough vibes on this website today, likely because people feel Hopeless and Helpless Because Can't Stop It and No One Who Is Supposed To Is Trying To So Now We're Fighting Each Other™. I recommend activities such as book, or potentially instrument if you like instrument, or even do talk on phone.

Sabate had pretty much the most adventurous life I've ever read about, and in a just and fair world, he would be an archetypical hero of movies instead of james bond or whoever.
#OtD 5 Jan 1960 Francesc Sabaté Llopart aka "El Quico" was assassinated. He fought Franco in the Spanish Civil War, then with the French resistance during World War II, then joined anti-Franco underground resistance in Spain until killed by police stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/1051...

last day to sign up as a patron for the zine of the month club and get a new story in the Danielle Cain series. (though to be clear it'll probably be available as a stand alone zine at some point)

-"And the Clean Bones Gone" by Margaret Killjoy, a Danielle Cain short story that is a companion zine to "The Immortal Choir Holds Every Voice."

this week's post is something i've been working on for a long time, and is a little guide to living the good life. Or it's early aughts punk nostalgia. Or it's my response to tradwife culture.

Just started reading The Sapling Cage by Margaret Killjoy and what I can say so far is that if you loved the Tamora Pierce Tortall books and wish there was a genderswapped version by a trans woman about needing to be a girl to get trained as a witch, this could very much be the book for you

It has the added benefit of being a lot more useful than despair, too.
Taking action, no matter how small or humble, vaccinates you against despair.

My thoughts are with all those affected by the horrific antisemitic terror attack on a Hanukkah event in Australia in which at least 11 people were killed.

Seen below is Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old Muslim father of two who risked his life to disarm one of the gunmen and was also shot and injured.
