Think it's a testament to how entrenched police power is in society that a man who has for the most part not buckled on Palestine feels compelled to buckle here.
Not a criticism of Mamdani in particular, but as long as we allow massively funded, heavily armed right-wing paramilitaries to have veto power over every aspect of public policy, it will be impossible to enact even the most basic social democratic reforms that a lot of liberals say they want.

the reason people still want to go indie and put themselves at tremendous risk is not wanting to put up with this kind of shit anymore. it's completely insane and completely humiliating how normal it is for companies like this to put people through all kinds of weird torture to prove their worth
