Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

as long as the Game Awards have high viewership numbers it's an open invitation for them to continue to say and do anything they want, ignore or deplatform anyone or anything they want, disrespect game developers as much as they want, etc. they don't have to even pretend to care.

philly/detroit nfl game is one of the stupidest/worst games i've ever seen. i am so mad at detroit's utter ineptitude throughout and i really hate this philly team in so many ways at this point. they're like this weird dysfunctional mess who keeps winning mostly on talent.

tbh the thing about the discourse around Epstein lately that's making me insane is it literally doesn't matter if every girl he had an sexual encounter with was 18 and above because he trafficked and raped them. the way people are talking it's almost as if people only care if they were under 18?

imo it's more or less self-preservation on their part - it's some combo of them feeling personally burned/slighted and that they see where things are going. it's only weird to observe because we live in a moment right now where a lot of people in power are totally failing to diagnose the moment.

2007 is the first year i started considering transitioning and i was very much in the "i'm going to try to do everything i can to pass as a cis woman and obliterate any vestiges of my old life" mindset at the time because this is how openly trans people were treated in public

i don't have any easy answers to this, i just think it's really humiliating how much people who make games have this default expectation that they have to totally subjugate themselves to joe gamer and the whims of the market and act so blessed and grateful to be there the whole time

In reality, Catholic hospitals make up as much 46% of options in some states. This map is 2020, prior to Trump’s assault on safety net hospitals.

the reason people still want to go indie and put themselves at tremendous risk is not wanting to put up with this kind of shit anymore. it's completely insane and completely humiliating how normal it is for companies like this to put people through all kinds of weird torture to prove their worth
3 years ago today, Riot Games offered me a job making more money than I ever thought I’d make in my life. I had 19 interviews over 2.5 months to get it. Partner and I were moving to LA for it. I put in notice at my job and apartment.
