Ever since releasing Angeline Era I've really gotten into the world of apples. I may not like minimaps but I sure like a good Apple Map (that's what it says at top) guiding the way thru two dimensional applespace

Negative reviews of my work with good points are like.. fair! But sometimes the reviews are very genre-normative and it's hard not to feel I'm reading an opinion from the Immune Response for Keeping Games Mid. In conclusion, eat an apple before writing reviews everyone

It's the year of the kappa in my heart... Excited for more players to meet Moro-Q in the new year!
Happy Japanese New Year from Moro-Q!
He's enjoying his festive kagami mochi, and wondering when it'll be the Year of the Kappa. There's always next year, Moro-Q!

And here comes the new point-and-click project I'm working on. Do you like Speculative Evolution or a similar world-building project based on alien life? Do you like a game where information about the world plays a significant role in the puzzle clue? This might interest you.

really enjoyed All Our Asias (han-tani.itch.io/aoa), which is quite refreshingly direct about diaspora politics for younger generations.

Happy New Year to all!

I'm back to working on Danchi Days in 2026 with the gingham games team! A bittersweet and odd adventure set in Everyday 2000s Japan, very heavily researched game, too. Look forward to it!

Hoshino here! The Danchi Days Demo is NOW OUT!!! Set in Japan, help me revive the neighborhood summer festival for my grandma, while connecting with my neighbors and surfing their personal websites!

I like timing based rpg mechanics but to me they organically made more sense when designed as part of a game meant to reduce mental stat-adjusting and buildcrafting burden of RPGs (paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, smrpg), instead focusing on little in-world interactions and platformery level design.

remembering the week during angeline era dev where i was cursed - starting with a kiwi that vanished from my shopping bag, ending only when i accidentally walked up a down escalator... darker times

It'd be cool if they made a game about collecting golden jigsaw pieces and musical notes while eating honey, touching multicolored neon bird-penguins and listening to British cartoon music. Also a mole teaches you gymnastics. Just a random game idea.

Reading this old 2020 theorypost about my "shuffled world" ideas is cool. The idea was mostly vibes but I can see some of its DNA in how Angeline Era came out and also current new brainstorming ideas

Really liked the central idea the short game Many Nights a Whisper is built around! (having to practice throughout the game, to sink a shot at the end of the game). There should be more dexterity-based "no go backs" things in games

Key things that explain my game taste are I like trails in the sky fc more than sc, and I like banjo kazooie more than Mario 64.

Added a few more AngEra community copies for 🎄🎁!! If you miss it there's still the bundle deal on steam for Anodyne 1 OR (owning both not needed!) Anodyne 2, otherwise the next discount will be around end of Jan and as often as I can after that.

Thank you for Bump Slashing
Inspired by some other game dev friends, for those who can't pay for Angeline Era right now, I'll be making some free itch io community copies for Angeline Era available periodically! Scroll down and click "Claim access" here: han-tani.itch.io/angeline-era

Poking around I haven't found anything adjacent.. the idea is basically, a 2d platformer where you are a tiny animal shooting fruit out of trees with inaccurate methods like sticks. You can damage the fruit and your animal gets tired (like harvest moon) so you have to strategically throw sticks
Idea for a normal cozy farming game I want to make, partly inspired by some prototypes over the past years. Would be neat to check out some similar open-ended physicsy games on steam during this sale if anything comes to mind for people!

I didn't add to this article but would like to share my pick, @halberball.bsky.social 's fragrance point OST! nice and dancey, fits right in with the game's future spacey smooth 3d aesthetic/ setting

Others I haven't played but heard good music from: ZATO and Eternity egg
