Dynamism personified.

Proud supporter of the “fuck you, make me” approach to tyranny.
I would love for someone at @cnn.com to just simply explain what value there is in just taking his words at face value.
After Trump tells NBC News he could maybe use a "softer touch" on immigration, we immediately get the "different tone" narrative from CNN.

Brianna Keilar: "A change of tone for the president. Softer touch."

David Chalian: "He acknowledged learning something that this requires a softer touch."

Begging @gallego.senate.gov and @captmarkkelly.bsky.social to either step up to be the kind of leader we need or back someone else because this is…yikes.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

I’m going to keep saying this- the plan to undermine elections is going to be through the weaponization of bad faith that news outlets like Fox News will be leading. Then @cnn.com, @npr.org, and @nytimes.com will follow suit.
Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

The fact that a media reporter is this credulous is so dispiriting.

We have lots and lots and lots of evidence that Trump will go to great lengths to stroke his ego and the fact that no one reporting this story is willing to see if there were shenanigans is fucked.

Do not support politicians who get and follow this kind of messaging advice. Posting this content on this platform is just screaming to everyone that you are not a serious person.

At this point I think it is safe to assume that the @nytimes.com is not getting played, they are the player.
Next time choose *not* to get played.

Still shocked that Don Dimello has not shown up in the Epstein files.
January 31, 2026 at 8:06 PM
That @whstancil.bsky.social has completely pantsed so many very visible “leftists” by just getting out there is really helping me contextualize the last 12 years of left politics.
January 31, 2026 at 7:16 PM
My current mental framework for understanding all of this* is that lots of very powerful people got spooked over BLM and MeToo precisely because of the Epstein evidence trail.

*the tacit if not enthusiastic support of Trumpism.
I keep thinking again, in light of the latest Epstein files dump, about how MeToo “went too far.”

What I’m seeing here is that Epstein is a nexus point for the “intellectual” cabal that shores up the race science justifying our current immigration and anti-DEI policies (Huberman), as well the tone policing moderates (Brooks) that hamstrings oppositions. Oh and their billionaire benefactors.
January 31, 2026 at 4:32 PM
The fact that so many of the “Epstein academics” were also very interested in measuring skulls in the name of “academic freedom” might give me pause if I was someone who publicly defended that kind of thinking.
January 31, 2026 at 4:15 PM
I can’t be the only one who thinks this but after seeing the latest Epstein release, it is very clear why Trump got heaps of institutional support from a particular set of people.
January 31, 2026 at 3:24 PM
This has been true for decades, the most sustainable way to livable country is to elect more and better Democrats.
Elect more Democrats & keep electing them. It's the only good voting advice left
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

Noam Chomsky and Stephen Pinker say Epstein was an intellectual force with a mind like steel trap and then his e-mails read like the ending of Flowers for Algernon.

This is 100% true. In fact, I would venture to guess that the median voter has no real contact with real Trump as the one presented to the public is heavily filtered.
Once you start noticing it you can't stop: when the real Trump falters and is incapable of defending his administration (more and more frequent) the actual Trump is "subbed out" of news coverage for an invented, imaginary, often explicitly hypothetical version of Trump who is reasonable and cogent
A few hours ago the msm unquestioningly repeated the White House spin that Trump had changed his “tone.”
January 28, 2026 at 5:42 AM
Damn. Such a great point.
since newspapers love voter safaris so much it would be interesting for them to try to find a single voter, anywhere, who said "I'm anti-immigration but the Democrats' border bill stunt convinced me they'd be better on immigration than Trump"

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

The @nytimes.com is incapable of understanding that lots and lots of people think trans people are people and will act on these beliefs in morally consistent ways.

I have two kids who don’t like Harry Potter precisely because of the author’s anti-trans bullshit.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”

Our country would be immeasurably improved if pundits faced any accountability whatsoever.

Tom Friedman, David Brooks, Jim Cramer are colossal fuck ups and we are all worse off with them contributing to public discourse.

I’m getting really goddamn tired of this dynamic:
1. There is a galvanizing event for the left occurs.
2. We all begin to row in the same direction.
3. A day or two after, we get “actually this is the Democrats/liberals fault” and/or everyone is doing it wrong.
4. We lose focus.

Why did @cnbc.com just let him lie? What do we gain as an audience by a guest lying?
Sean Duffy: "If you come to a protest with a 9mm firearm, that's fine believing in the Second Amendment, but you stand on the sidewalk and you hold your sign. You take that 9mm and you start to engage with ICE officers, and then you resist arrest -- listen, I don't want anyone to die, but ... "

This is true but we cannot underestimate the gullibility of every major news outlet and that gullibility is what Trump is counting on.

Jamelle’s own newspaper tied itself into knots over yesterday’s clear murder of an innocent man where we had obvious visual evidence of what happened!
strange to me that a lot of people on this website simultaneously agree that the administration is run by incompetents who struggle to carry out their agenda without major political blowback AND that they’ll pull off a complex and sophisticated effort to rig elections and prevent defeat in November
