Worth repeating that the chief lesson of the last 11 months is that, among “elites”, cowardice is unquestionably a virtue.

@shaheen.senate.gov is not a serious person and should not hold elected office.

Umm…you can’t tell people that you will keep fighting right after you’ve surrendered.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare
We will keep fighting

At a basic level, our society did not evolve to account for an entire layer of elite society just lying, continuously and without consequence, and making lying into a core skill set. It really is that dire — civilizations collapse because of alienated, delusional elites.
Damn, I hate it when things that happen mean nothing :-(

So disappointed to see my senator (@captmarkkelly.bsky.social) acting like an absolute chickenshit here.
SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

Two things suck about this coverage. First, the @washingtonpost.com is just accepting WH spin as true (“aides say they struggle”) Second, why do @msnbc.com properties feel so beholden to shitty outlets? It’s this huge blind spot for them.

What makes this extra confusing is that there is definitely a need and a likely market for whip-smart pundits. The @nytimes.com has this guy on its payroll but seems super invested in making Ross Douthat a thing. Why?!?
Why is @jamellebouie.net the only national pundit who ever seems to “get it” on a consistent basis?
Like, what is so fucking rotten in pundit culture that makes seeing the plain truth so goddamn difficult?

oh so these people do pay attention to who politicians follow on social media, they just don’t care that the vice president follows a bunch of actual neo-nazis

If it were my job to inform people about the world and I was not doing that job, it would be existential crisis time for me!
90% of political coverage should be telling voters what Ds and Rs do when they wield power.
Yes Dems can be feckless and performative but if you're a low-information voter who likes it when poor kids eat, you should just vote Dem and not overthink it. Pundits are weirdly allergic to saying this.

The reason for this is simple, Republicans cannot fail, they can only be failed.
People fucking hate this guy. They fucking hate ICE. They fucking hate how much power he has. He is at 63% overall disapproval to 37% approval. That's lower than their poll after January 6th. And this poll was done before he started intentionally starving people. I wish our media would reflect this.

Two questions worth considering:
1. Why did Platner get so much apparent juice from X?
2. Why is everyone* on X minimizing the Nazi stuff?
*I’m not on X, but the only people I see defending this are from there.

We really need to spend more time unpacking why the “savvy left” were catastrophically wrong about Trump.

I know he’s done so much worse but this thread does a good job of explaining why this is such a grievous insult to the American people.
It is shocking that Trump is quickly tearing down a portion of the White House. But isn’t the bigger story that this action is of a piece with his autocratic presumption that he can unilaterally destroy public goods without any public consultation or explanation?

If given the chance, I'd lose my legs all over again to serve in our great military.

Square that circle then tell me who really hates our military.
