It is lovely that Nebula is AI-free as well as ad-free tbh. It’s like YouTube but good.
Completely AI-free and devoid of slop, I think we've managed to build a platform which very much *isn't* designed to keep you swiping and scrolling, but wants you to find something you actually want to watch as fast as possible.
Which I guess is the ultimate side benefit of being ad free.

I have been trying to avoid this conclusion, as angry as this all makes me, but it's fucking undeniable at this point that in Esther Ghey's view the real tragedy of Brianna's life is that she was trans at all, which made her a target. Her advocacy smacks of railing against "social contagion".

This is exactly where this is heading.
"Take the phone away" is the first item on the list of action recommended by anti-trans parents' orgs.
Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?
I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.

"As someone working in law, it’s heresy to say this, and it might even kill my chances of a career... But as a trans person, and someone fighting for the rights of my community, I refuse to remain silent. To me it just seems obvious: a heavily prejudiced society produces prejudiced institutions."
It’s no surprise that only 31% of trans people trust a legal system built to enforce prejudice, says Jess O’Thomson.

One strange thing about the BBC/Trump row is that the programme in question was actually made by an independent production company. Yes, the BBC producers and Panorama’s editor should have checked everything before it was broadcast. But…

Personally I'd be pleased to see BBC News disappear entirely. To argue, as many do, that British politics or our news environment would be so much worse without the BBC you have to explain why British politics and news environment is so very bad with the BBC.

This vindicates my decision not to listen to the News Agents. There was always something smug-centrist about it that struck me as off. It turns out Maitlis is a fellow traveler with ideological hatemongers like Hannah Barnes.

There's a whole section praising Hannah Barnes - someone who made it her mission to flood the BBC with an actual one sided attack on trans people.
And whining because the LGBTQ reporters refuse to cover transphobia positively.

Brianna Ghey was the target of brutal bullying and assault that cumulated in her violent murder because she was trans. Any 'solution' to her death that isn't focused on the culture of transphobia that made a group of children think her life was worth less is a distraction from this fact.

I'm torn on this. On the one hand, I'm sure Prescott is right that BBC news culture is biased and unaccountable. I stopped consuming BBC news for this reason years ago.
BUT he is complaining that it's insufficient deferential to RW and GC talking points. That's bullshit.

Reading Prescott’s report, when it is something I have direct knowledge of I go “yep that seems about right”, and when it is something I don’t I go “well, yeah there’s a direct readacross to another topic I do know about”:
To fix the BBC, focus on competence and cash
Corporation fails to learn from criticism, while politicians have consciously reduced its scope for quality journalism

This. These stories are both GC propaganda. In the case of the WPATH files it's a complete nothingburger. The Darlington nurses is a story about GC activists persecuting trans colleagues, and doesn't deserve publicity.
He cites “leaked WPATH documents” and “Darlington nurses” as stories the BBC ignored. Those pieces originated from partisan outlets pushing misinformation.

Re-upping this in the aftermath of Tim Davie's resignation. The BBC is not captured by a group of pro-trans activists as Prescott alleges. In fact, the facts show BBC output biased to gender critical views.
Prescott claims BBC LGBT reporters “refuse to cover gender-critical stories.” In reality, independent research shows BBC trans coverage already leans against inclusion.
