I read an interview today where Alison Bechdel talked about using chatGPT for a panel of her recent comic -- she prompted it and copied the results -- and I still don't know what to do with that. It genuinely feels in moments like this like so many of our art elders are failing us.

i think folks look at people's adulation of MASH and think "it must be good...for it's time" and like, yes, there are some things that are dated in it (esp first couple seasons, klinger) but it's NOT just good for the 70s-80s. it's good PERIOD. it's fresh in ways i can't emotionally quantify haha
i cannot tell you how often i think back to MASH when writing. that ability to walk the line between humor and the darkest of humanity, yet never truly cross over into making light of it OR hopelessness--even though it toys with those things, too--is the line i strive for
