Near 4 decades later, same story with a little more feel.

(About a 10 minute read)

Another file, found by taking a deep breath and delving into my cringe poetry from the Amiga days. I apparently wrote this on February 2nd, 1988 at 4pm. I would have just come home from school. I was 16 and a half - almost a decade before beginning transition.

fucking losing it. in the middle of this too-deep angsty teenager shit is this:

Life is like a really big lawnmower.
If you're like, grass, it mows you, and
cuts off your head, but it doesn't do
much to trees.

so like, be a tree.

One of the funny things about being trans is you might start out feeling it came out of the blue, but then find so much in the past showing you at least *thought* about gender fuckery beforehand.

This image, from October 1989. About the time I did HSC exams. I'd just turned 18 a few months before.

Having a small squee of joy as I have a little personal revelation.

handwavey private bullshit but: A thing I presume made everything clearer didn't, it just explained why everything WASN'T clear.

And WHY it explained why everything wasn't clear mattered, too.

OK as you were. back to snacks.

I have been haunted by Mow Ringworld for 25 years. You all know it, bargain basement CD based shovelware, marked down to $10, $5, 50c... 'free bird frightener!'.

The game we all saw, but never bought. Last week on a whim I bought an unopened copy on eBay. I resurrected my indigo iMac to play.

I normally do a kind of year-end summary of photoshops, but there have been so few I can't really remember them.

It's been a very weird year for me.

But I forgot til now it's the year I started writing *and* finishing. Shorter pieces not just put away until I could develop them.

A 🧵 of some:

“Mow Ringworld” - a game (not a euphemism you little ferals) where you have to mow all the grass on the entirely of a ringworld around a star, but when you get back to the beginning the grass has regrown more. And evolved. Is sentient. And has starships.
It was short but pretty at least. Imagine needing to mow ringworld.

Remember this from the 90s? No??? That's because I woke up with a splitting migraine today, and my malfunctioning synapses invented this abomination. I hyperfixated on it for several terrifying minutes while immobilized in bed. It haunted me all day, so here's my rendition of it.
