So many people on this app are gullible AF.🤦🏽♀️
I weep for the times when folks actually understood how the government and political strategy works, because we studied and analyzed these things in school.
The current media has made too many folks far less savvy and more politically illiterate.

Democratic voters blame Democrats for *everything.*
It’s pretty easy to see how fascists gained complete control of our federal government.

Every variation of what Democrats do here doesn’t matter in the sense that it is the Republicans’ fault in every way, politically on Republicans, pr-wise on them, the House CR expires in less than 2 weeks anyway, & Johnson would have to swear in Grijalva because the House would need to show up.

I see a lot of bad incentives for Democrats to be outraged tonight. It’s a short term CR. Dems have until the end of the year to get the health care subsidies. They can shut it down again if they have to. They’re playing with fire if they hold out too long. Planes will crash.

Outside the merits of this deal, this is a weird statement to make about a deal that specifically includes SNAP funding, but it goes to show that most ppl that spend all their time raging against Democrats on this site typically never bother to actually inform themselves before doing so.

Im begging some of yall to take a very deep breath & calm your tits. Governing while republicans are in charge has always been ugly. Now it’s hideous. We’re going to lose some battles. But we’ll win the war.
Folks, we need to have a little Civics #101 chat, because apparently the media no longer seems fit to explain to you whats happening.
So quick review:
The House passed a clean CR.
The senate has not passed anything.

The ONLY way this "deal" (taken with several grains of salt) ends the shutdown is if it's identical to the house version.
The alleged "cave" by the GOP staff regurgitators at Axios is nowhere close to the house bill.
Which means it forces Johnson to convene the house to vote on it.

Everyone is blaming Chuck Schumer, but blaming him for the wrong thing.
It's not Chuck's idea to cave. There are "Democrats" in the caucus (I bet Fetterman) who want to cave without getting anything in return,
Chuck will vote against this.
Chuck's failure is in keeping the caucus together.

People will suffer more no matter what the minority chooses to do & I’m glad they’re fighting for healthcare given I’m on Medicaid. Have the smoke for Republicans that your friends & family keep voting for instead & deal with the weird hate boners you have for Schumer.

If you have really strong opinions, don't just post on social media.
Call your Senators. Call your Representative. Make your opinion known directly. But do it respectfully, no matter what your opinion is. Just be clear about what you want, and why.

Everyone’s been hysterical for a few hours over a goddamn procedural vote for a House C.R. that expires in less than 2 weeks anyway when Democrats are in a lose-lose scenario that Republicans can again stop any time they want that will continue to repeat until voters put Democrats in the majority.
This supposed Senate vote tonight is only procedural. Per CNN just now, nothing is close yet.

This is the third or fourth example of “nobody else is reporting this but a press outlet generally hostile to the Democratic Party is saying Democrats are on the verge of caving so let’s treat it as real” bullshitery I’ve seen since yesterday morning.
You can always tell that someone is a very savvy consumer of political reporting, & definitely operating in good faith, when they treat Axios exclusives like they’re not hackery &/or fuckery.

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

Watch: One of those White male Democrats is going to propose a $25,000 tax credit for first time home buyers and getting Medicare/Medicaid to help with in-home care costs and everyone will eat it up! And Bernie will run to the mic claiming Kamala Harris lost because she didn't have ideas like this!
