Please call your senators today to ask them to support this war powers resolution.
Greenland war powers vote could be heading to Senate floor
Sen. Ruben Gallego said he will introduce a war powers resolution to forestall a U.S. invasion of the Danish territory.

The constitutional remedy for a president who launches a war of acquisition against an ally is impeachment, removal, disqualification, and ultimately a criminal trial. And the same is true for every member of his cabinet involved in such an illegal undertaking.

Good god, this flu is like walking through molasses and static. Movement hurts.

nnnnnope!

what it says is that a lot of American voters were fucking stupid and are now frantically trying to mitigate the harm caused by their own moral failures, not that they righteously shared our politics.

What this tends to be motivated by is "*I* did my part, I (and my community) voted for the right cause, I couldn't reasonably have done any more. Clearly our leaders could have done something better to make my efforts matter."

Which, true, but that's the issue w/democracy. What matters is numbers.
… what mechanism do they think exists to do this that’s independent of voters

I have often said that in this day and age the mythic symbol of the redcap fash (if not the literal redcap) is the werewolf, imo, not the vampire.

Seemingly nice, normal people who abruptly reveal a feral, monstrous desire for raw violence and terror of the weak and downtrodden.
The werewolf-bite-hiders surround us

On Twitter, they're suddenly throwing around 'goy' references.

Yeah not going to even bother with a callout, I know who's the outsider here.
Socialist who spends most of their time on Twitter starts throwing around "Jews" very often, I'm suspicious

I ended up hospitalized because of the flu once. It’s not a joke. Get vaccinated if you haven’t. I get my vaccine the exact second I can every year. Children are dying from the flu; get them vaccinated too if you haven’t.

Wear a mask and wash your hands often. Don’t touch your face. Be safe!

personally I think we ended up with fascism because a bunch of voters looked at the guy promising to do a fascism and said "yeah sounds good, whatever brings down the price of eggs"
I need people to understand that saying, "I don't like or support this politician, but the other person will be worse, so I'll vote for them," is precisely how we ended up with fascism.

If you're not voting affirmatively for something you actually want, you don't live in a democracy.

Psychic assault.
I am so mad that these people are allowed to put this shit on a government website.

It would be a great day for reporters to ask elected Republicans if the 2020 election was stolen.

I find the first comment so bizarre. As has been noted ad nauseam, Greenland's already in NATO and virtually every potential US military use is something Denmark already happily lets the US do anyway. If you don't know this then you clearly didn't care about it previously, so who's the pretense for?
genuinely hilarious to what extent TikTok comment sections are now publics

I don't think it's an accident that many of the Hellenic mythic figures who challenge the Gods, for example, are people who are themselves privileged among mortals. They do so because their power has conditioned them to see themselves as untouchable, not as some broader project of mortal liberty.
(This is extremely relevant! In most traditional religions observance is not a matter of personal faith, it's a matter of collective communal practice, where if one fails to uphold the proper obeisances, the entire community is now in danger, so there's huge cultural pressure to observe.)

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

this is small comfort given he has state power and i don’t but i am struck by what an obviously weak and fragile man miller is. a blubbering piss baby whose entire affect and personality is an attempt to make up for his profound feelings of inadequacy
MILLER: The US is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We're a superpower. It's absurd we'd allow a nation in our backyard to become a supplier of resources to our adversaries

TAPPER: Sovereign countries shouldn't be able to do what they want?

The sheer thuggish cruelty and wickedness of Miller is difficult to understate.

This is the sort of man who could never achieve such power on his own, because he's just too antisocial.
TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland
