It’s become conventional wisdom that America’s young men are in crisis. The reality is more complicated than that. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-weekend-essay/what-did-men-do-to-deserve-this
What Did Men Do to Deserve This?
Changes in the economy and in the culture seem to have hit them hard. Scott Galloway believes they need an “aspirational vision of masculinity.”

tl;dr We have discarded or de-gendered(?) pretty much all the traditional ideas of what it means to be a man while leaving in place the idea that it *does* mean something. This is confusing, and young men are looking to those who claim to have answers. /end

Schumer is really an anti-leader, a vacuum of leadership, and as far as I can tell he draws his support from that. He doesn’t ask anything of anyone, he never squeezes anyone on a hard vote, he’s always the first to cave.

He’s the substitute teacher the kids love having because they can goof off.
Every day a majority of Democratic Senators wake up and decide to continue supporting Chuck Schumer as their leader

*A movie made before 1978 contains a scene set at night*

Wow, this just looks great! It's like at some point filmmakers forgot how to light night scenes so they actually look like night? THIS is what it should look like!

*In the movie made before 1978, lightning flashes*

Wow that looked like shit

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

And a lot of people came up with "nothing, under any circumstances"

defining the economy is capitalist propaganda, as is measuring it with graphs. also, the economy is bad and used to be better and everyone knows it.

Purchasing power hasn't stagnated. Americans are wealthier than ever. There aren't enough houses. Those first two things can't fix the third thing, no matter how much better they get.

It started w/George Floyd. Frey didn't botch it exactly, but he gave milquetoast press conferences and didn't inspire anyone. Left turned on him as pro-cop; as support waned, Frey shored it up by seeking police endorsements, which he got. Which made him look more pro-cop. It became a death spiral.

Of all income levels tons of people I know treated the price increases like someone personally took their dreams out back and shot them, because look at where they would have been with their salary increases and no price increases. They just don't accept that those two measures are related

This is true at all levels of government, too. IRS examiners should be paid equal to the preparers who scheme away tax liabilities (currently about 35-40% of the pay depending on market) and same for SEC and FDA and everything else. Pay more and attract better talents - it just works.
