Good list! I would definitely add Deadly Wax, Gimme Gimme Records, CD Trader, Fingerprints, and Rhino and there are probably some others I’m forgetting.
Whether you’re a dedicated digger of crates, a touring name in turntablism, or merely a tocadisco-dilettante hoping to start your collection, we can promise you, you’re in the right town.

We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Lots of ad dollars are moving towards audio, which is surprisingly effective because the hosts are trusted voices. This is a good explanation for why bigger players would want to nudge podcast creators to a place where they’d get a cut.
I've always been convinced that video podcasts exist to force creators to be reliant on a closed distribution platform. Podcasts are built on tech (RSS) that nobody can own. Every major tech company has wanted to migrate podcasts to something proprietary, but it never sticks. Video is their answer.

people want to LISTEN to podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!

The craziest thing about the journalists and editors who bias their stuff in Trump’s favor because they want him to win is that Trump clearly wants the power to kill you.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

I've defended establishment democrats a lot, as a lot of what they do has some justification, but this is my own breaking point. There is literally no good reason to cave now after holding on for so long. Either cave right away so people don't suffer for no reason, or ACTUALLY hold the damn line.
Glad we've taught the Trump administration that starving 42 million people and disrupting air travel is how they get whatever they want, though. Good precedent with 3 years left in this nightmare.

New England has some of the largest minimum lot size requirements in the country.

These rules make it illegal to build the kinds of modest homes that already define many of our neighborhoods, driving up prices, restricting new housing, and freezing communities in time.

johnson is also fucking terrified of what's in these files and is willing to keep the house on permanent vacation to prevent their disclosure, and that's becoming obvious to even the most checked-out median voter
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.

In my entire professional life everything has been about good timing and bolting through closing doors. Even 3 years ago tech was a good path but now it’s over. It’s insane to expect people to be able to keep up with this.
One of the things I’m most thankful for is that I didn’t push my kid to get into tech. The entry level job market is non-existent and the entire industry is spending trillions of dollars to replace their experienced workers with chatbots.

The key factor that everyone seems to always forget is that Trump was the host of what was once the highest rated show on network TV - a purportedly non-fiction show that portrayed him as a hyper-savvy and hyper-successful businessman.
Trump has gotten huge numbers of infrequent voters to the polls, twice. He's deeply unpopular but has mobilized a large, unprecedented coalition of Americans motivated by some combination of ignorance, avarice, and cruelty. It is hard to describe what he has as something other than charisma
His charisma is fundamentally incompatible with me (and likely many of the people on Bluesky) but it’s kind of insane to say it doesn’t exist

Honestly we should try and nominate a former prosecutor for president next time.

…wait……….
I hope when Dems take back the House, they investigate the shit out of Amazon paying $40 million for a Melania Trump documentary when no other studio was willing to bid even a fraction of that.

Game theory is important. We need to remember that once we reclaim power. Absolutely no more turn the page BS. Accountability and recriminations.
Back when Trump's team concocted the idea of gerrymandering Texas to try to save his ass after 2026, you know they never, ever, ever contemplated Dems doing this as a response

Trump didn't. Greg Abbott didn't. Miller didn't. None of them did
