INGRAHAM: Is affordability a voter perception issue of the economy, or is there more that needs to be done by Republicans?

TRUMP: More than anything else, it's a con job by the Democrats. Are you ready? Costs are way down.

I’m sure there is at least one policy professional who works at the White House and everyone knows who it is because they slip into little comas several times a day
Trump: I want the money to go into an account for people where the people buy their own insurance. They will feel like entrepreneurs. Call it Trumpcare… anything but Obamacare. Obamacare is a disaster just like he was.

Republicans securing their midterm fortunes with MAGA voters by capitulating to Democrats, instead of just voting as a majority empowered by those voters, is a hell of a bet
The expanded subsidies are supported by a supermajority of Republican voters, including 57% of self-identified MAGA. More than half of all subsidy recipients live in red districts and/or red states. Congressional Republicans would have eventually caved to save their own asses in the midterms.
........and if they hadn't flinched, what's the mechanism by which those premiums still don't spike

"Republicans voted to (not) do a thing because they control the govt, then they refused to do the thing they already voted not to do, here's why that's Dems fault"

If we can't politically message "Trump will actually murder Americans with famine and pestilence to get what he wants, which is money and avoiding justice for RAPING GIRLS" then fucking hang it up.

Ok, as far as Congress goes, Trump is consolidated and has been. Last night sucked, there is also no universe where Trump pulls back the authoritarian shit as a bonus to ACA tax credits.
Harm to SNAP recipients, federal workers, and others is real. In a normal democracy it’d make sense to prioritize reducing that harm in the short term.

In a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.

I don’t want a cave but I also don’t think compelling a party that wants to, and has on population scales, starve children to DEATH and enthusiastically protects a True Detective S1 pederast cult is a sure-bet outcome

I think a good rule of thumb is any proposal coming out of any republican source that talks about direct cash transfers is as completely fake as DOGE checks until the treasury printers are running.

It’s exclusively to keep the hopeful bought into the scam, that one day something good will happen
I would really view a WSJ piece on how the Rick Scott plan "appeared to break the logjam" with significant skepticism

This does sound like something Fetterman would love and putting “send individuals cash money” on the house is a hell of a thing to bet your career on
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

The odds that Trump is going to accidentally invent single payer healthcare are zero.

This would be an HSA that would cover the cost of ivermectin and some bandaids. That’s it.

Aim high and say DHS is a den of vipers. It’s a 20 year old agency that has been turned into a dog kennel, it has no cultural arc aside from Tom Homan and Greg Bovino.

Salt the earth.
And the Admin is handing you Bovino on a silver platter to be the face of this

You absolutely want to be shifting the messaging to how BP are the ones tear gassing suburban streets for fun and that at an absolute bare minimum Bovino needs to be in a jail cell come 2029
And frankly as a tactical matter, even ICE people are getting fed up with Bovino's goons squad roving around harassing random brown people and tear gassing kids at parties

Not that ICE will ever be in any tent, but it's an opportunity for cleavage in trump land that should be recognized
