I paused, out of breath. The Void had taken all my frustrated screaming and absorbed it.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "You must have heard all this before, countless times."

'only you,' said the Void, 'scream your frustration like you do'

I took a deep breath to resume, then smiled.

"Thanks."

Being vulgar isn’t the goal of roasting. EARNING CAMARADERIE IS THE POINT. You display the empathy to accurately asses others’ vulnerabilities, the craft to make fun at them without destroying underlying respect for their humanity, and you earn satisfaction of earning their esteem.

Listen, the best thing they could have done was have a spine back in, idk, 2016.

The second best thing was have a spine at any time since then.

But the 3rd best thing is definitely spite quitting just to let Dems take over and make Johnson cry.
PUNCHBOWL: “.. GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they, too, are considering retiring in the middle of the term. Here’s one particularly exercised senior House Republican:

Hey, I'm getting the hell out of Phoenix soon, back to my beloved Pacific Northwest. Selling off as much as possible before the move.

I've got a bunch of CHEW stuff for sale on ebay. I rarely do (American) shows anymore, so here's a chance for signed stuff.

the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.
it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

I fell down a hole of "people who love wicked and picked up the book thinking it was going to be a fluffy fantasy romance story"
😂😂😂😂

I adored that book for a long time and was shocked when they made it into a family friendly musical.

It's dark and satirical and wonderful.

Logging back into Facebook and casually posting about the Wire Faced Man, how he's behind every window and smile, etc.
As we are now T minus 3.5 days from Thanksgiving, if you need to deploy Operation Avoid The Boundary Tramplers, tonight is when you post where they snoop about a headache or a queasy kid, or a funny noise from your car, or your pet acting strange, or a serious work issue or an unexpected paper.

It's time for everyone's favorite chronologically unanchored holiday, The Story of the Lizard in the Leg.
Because people keep asking, the Story of The Lizard In That Dude's Leg. Some caveats:

1. This happened more than twenty years ago. There are no pictures. There was a small article in a local paper with, again, no pictures (I'm assuming that's what the producers of 9-1-1: LONE STAR found).

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

some see this as claiming that sexism motivated the elimination of inkers. to be clear, sexism wasn’t the driving factor, but the gendered construction of creative/uncreative labor had the effect of making women’s jobs more expendable than men’s. it’s not conspiratorial to call the firing sexist
the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you
