Men please feel free to performatively read my books everywhere.

You are absolutely allowed to read!!! Don't let them shame you. They should be ashamed! Stop making collages of people reading and read a book too!
Oh fuck off

This is my work visibility post!
I had one original story published in 2025 and I love it. It's "There Be Monsters" in Sunday Morning Transport. A big thanks to @franwilde.bsky.social and the team for publishing it. It's about mermaid murder thoughts!

2025 was a quiet year publication wise for me. I've had to tell myself you have been on the go constantly from 2020. Between 2020-2025 I published a collection, a novella, wrote a novel, had 12 short stories pubbed, helped run an award, coedited.
Maybe a tiny rest is okay. Just a tiny one tho 😉

I wouldn't have spent a zillion hours doing this if I did not enjoy the act of writing. Even when it's hard (especially when it's hard), it's so rewarding. It's so clarifying. When I finish something, sure I'm proud of it, but I'm already itching to shove it out of my way and start the next thing.

I love writing but I find it very difficult, especially the first draft. I have trouble focusing on one task for long periods of time and so writing a 0 draft takes a lot out of me. I'm fried after most writing sessions.

BUT it's worth it because the joy of getting through it is euphoric.
Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

I have watched the big Gothic movie. I continue my reread of the book ( a favourite of mine)

Of course I have many thoughts about this movie but I just love that big gothic movies are getting made.

BIG GOTHIC MOVIES.

I want gothic movies made out of my work. Keep going gothic film makers!

Machine translations never work anyways. It's a glorified dictionary that doesn't understand context

Best example for English is unironically, "shit."

A native English speaker knows batshit, apeshit, dogshit, horseshit, and bullshit are all different concepts.

A dictionary thinks you're at a zoo.
I would like Countess and Skin Thief available in French BUT they must be translated by a human who gets paid.

I work with words, and I do not support taking work away from translators. Translation isn't just Word equivalent computing. I don't want that for my books or translators.
"Amazon propose une traduction par IA pour les livres Kindle auto-édités"

Bon, je n'en peux plus de soupirer. 🙃
