I am more and more convinced that when cis people want to debate whether trans people get human rights, the only correct response is "I don't treat whether or not people get human rights as a debate topic or hang around people who do" followed by leaving.

Long distance skating, for me. I used to love rollerblading and the basic skill transfers. I can't get up to speed fast enough for speed skating, but in Peru sure I could Just Keep Going for long distance.
Speed skating! I like skating but I don't want to deal with a puck or have to be graceful and sparkly while jumping
If you had one year to train, which event in the Winter Olympics would you be able to a compete in and not make an absolute fool of yourself.

You will lose. You can come in last. But you have to compete like you belong there.

I think if I committed full-time for a year, I could be an ok Curler.

And if you have an iPhone and you have the sinking realization as the federal agent is bearing down on you that you forgot to disable biometrics: hit the right-side down button 5x very quickly to enter the power down menu.
Reminder- turn biometric locks on your phone OFF, and shift to a passcode if you think you’ll be in any situation where you’d be filming.

My husband brought home the Office Cold and we've spent the past couple of days feeling awful. Last night was miserable; broken sleep, coughing hard enough to make me throw up...

We're better-ish now, but I can tell this one will last. I wish they'd let him WFH again.

"You may expect our romance books to fall everywhere between sweet to spicy clean"

What (the fuck) is spicy clean?

Listen.....first of all, "clean" is judgmental. I don't like it. Or do you mean, spicy and error free? Oh, of course that's not what you mean.

Second, what?

The book club scam has taken an exciting new leap forward. I got one today from a "curated literary platform and newsletter" that, unusually, offered a link to its website. I'm in edits, so obviously I took the opportunity to procrastinate. /1

Aaand another DNF. Nearly 800 pages of boring is too many for me. Again, possibly fun premise, excruciating execution.

At least this means I'm excited to clean the litter boxes and empty the trash, right?

If you are in Baltimore, and you haven't had an adult MMR booster or recent titers, now is the time to get that booster! Mumps immunity is more susceptible to waning than measles and it needs a single adult booster after age 18 or so for maximum efficacy!

What is happening: There is an increase in mumps cases in the community"

Just a reminder that it’s okay to let people have things that make them feel happy without loudly announcing that it makes you feel otherwise. Idk this just seems important lately.

When did 'portal fantasy' become ONLY portal/progression stories? Is 'isekai' also only progression stuff, now?

What happened to stories where the MC finds/falls through a secret/hidden 'door' to a different place and has to figure out what to do there?

Am I ... OLD???

honestly I think everyone should bring someone to doctor appointments with them! Increase the chance one of you will retain the information, plus if the doctor is outnumbered it makes them start to rethink being shitty, lol

Does anyone else feel that in recent decades movies rarely depict average working people? In the 70s and 80s we had movies about struggling families, stories about people most of us could understand. Not necessarily about the struggle, but where it was an obvious factor.

In the car this evening, Aerosmith's song Rag Doll started to play and suddenly, all I could hear was the line: 'daddy's little cutie'. I had to skip the whole thing and now I'm super horrified about... are they also in on it?

Ugh.

Yep! It is a word I recommend everyone who views porn delete from their searches immediately because even on a well-moderated site with strong 2257 verification by the custodian of records, if there's *any* user upload capability at *all*, there's a chance you will get something you don't want

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Get off my keyboard, you maniac cat!!"
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Tell me more about that."

and

"Let's dig into that. How did you feel? Why did it matter to you?"

(I am not a therapist.)
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Good morning, NAME OF COMPANY, how may I direct your call?"

(in email)

"You have received a package from X via Y. It will be in the Copy/Print room. Thank you."
