Here are some pets!

I #AmWriting but I have a question about debt. I need a debt that'll last past the death of the person who incurred it. I'm postulating a large loan (?) taken out against a trust (with three other living members). It's the background set-up for a trilogy.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Pinsbury took a deep breath, which Nico thought was a bad sign. “The loan was taken out eight years ago. The first payment was due three years ago. It was deferred, for various reasons, but with their deaths, it can’t be postponed for more than six months. Because of the type of loan [], it’s not cancelled by their deaths. [is this because the kids are also in the trust that the vineyard is owned by?]” He tapped his fingers on the desk and Nico wondered if the man was nervous.

Another two, with the same prompt. This time, it's a two-drabble story.
(bodyguard, inventor (weapons), unseat a politician) Bad Plan Hela knew Metiko couldn’t help coming up with wild ideas, but this one was unsupportable. They could not kidnap and replace the Chancellor of the Republic. They just—it wouldn’t work, not to mention the fact that it would mean beheading for both of them. There had to be a less disastrous way to get the Chancellor’s attention and make him change his mind about the raids on Athier. All Hela needed to do was convince Metiko to change her plans. No one else had ever succeeded in that, but Hela had to try. She couldn’t let Metiko get arrested. Worse Plan Kidnapping the Chancellor had been the perfect plan. It wasn’t even hard to do—the Chancellor had several well-publicised weaknesses and was also very predictable. He also wasn’t politically committed to the Athier raids, so getting him to change his mind wouldn’t take more than a couple cases of old-Terra chocolate and maybe some photos of cats. But then the new toy Metiko developed turned out to be capable of causing wide-spread destruction, and everything went downhill fast. Metiko crouched over Hela’s bleeding body and swore that next time, she wouldn’t tell anyone the plan. Hela’s life wasn’t worth this.

This one's maybe sadder?
She spent the first week mostly asleep, but in the second, she was up and poking around the safe-house. She’d always made better coffee than I did, so her curiosity was welcome. It took another month before she stopped skittering away from me – I knew my mods were frightening, and I was glad I’d removed hers before she woke up. Six months of quiet cohabitation, and she started to ask me to tell her stories about the things in her dreams. I had to cry in my room that night; knowing that her memories still existed was such a relief.

#drabble Drabble time again. This time, a pair of drabbles based on the prompt: 'an escaped experiment/test subject trying to restore the memory of another subject'
The others insisted it wasn’t possible, but I knew him. I knew him better than anyone, even myself. Especially myself. I started with comments on his vlogs, mentioning places he used to talk about. It took five comments before he responded, but then his vlog ‘took a break’ and when he came back, it was clear he’d been wiped again. Next I tried my own reaction vlogs. That got popular, which was unexpected, but it made wiping him harder for his handlers. I knew that if I just kept trying, he’d come back to me. I’d do whatever it took.

Here are pretty things.

Two small cat feet show in the gap between a closed door and a wooden floor. Peaches wants to know why I was allowed in the basement without her. Nugget, a monumentally stupid hen. She's very pretty, with brown and black laced feathers. But she has no brain cells.

Oct 20, 2025 When I first moved here, the only sound was the sea, beating ceaselessly. Wind and rain highlighted my lonliness. I spent a week like that, then brought back two goats from town. They helped, always making noise as they tried to undermine the fortifications I built for them. In the second month, I found a pregnant cat under the porch. She and her babies added little sounds; cries and metal cups knocked off the counter. Six months after I’d left, you followed me, and now my house is filled with the sounds of laughter and joy. And love. Always love.

Oct 20, 2025 The ocean roars against the rocks, except when it doesn’t. The sound is constant, with the seabirds’ cries a piercing descant, rising overhead. I sit above the tide mark, watching as the waves – ceaseless, endless – reach their foamy arms toward my toes. The sun arcs overhead, flaring agaisnt the distant waves, exposing the vast emptiness of the horizon. Behind the house, the jungle rises; a different set of sounds, a different endless wasteland. I sit in the space between, in the narrow sliver of open land keeping the two apart. I wish I could remember why I was brought here.

Oh man, that's spectacular. I love it. I painted my home office in fuchsia and denim.
A busy and slightly chaotic home office. One wall is bright fuchsia pink, the other is desaturated denim blue. There are house plants, a cluttered desk, and a large tan tabby cat sleeping on the desk. It's very colorful.

I just bought a Whole Store Pack of mini fine art cross stitch patterns and discovered that this set includes one of my favorite pieces. I'll have to make it twice, once with the standard caption and once with the one that makes me giggle myself into fits.

This is the one I giggle at.

My husband got me one of these, and because I'm under 5 feet tall (yes, really), it goes down to my ankles. It's a MARVEL. I'm instantly warmer as soon as I put it on. I got one for him, as well, but he's over 6 feet tall, so his only goes to his hips.

I just put mine on and the relief is intense.

One of the MCs of a book I'll be working on in the next three months is a grocery store manager. He's working his way up to regional manager, because he hates the current one and knows he'd be better at the job.
