We're caught in a trap. I can't walk out.

Any time someone uses the term "normie," they're talking about their own version of Chuck Schumer's Bailey family. They're not talking about actual, "normal" people. They're talking about their imaginary freinds that only exist in their heads, who they imagine to be normal.

Being a journalist is sick: I just contacted a pre-eminent jaguar conservationist in Argentine with a question that has been weighing on me for ages and he wrote back right away with an informed answer.

i feel for all the radical centrists out there now confronting the fact that their ideology was the one built in a bubble and formed by groupthink. with enough exposure to facts and logic they will, some day god willing, catch up to the left

Our elites decided Charlie Kirk was a watershed event that changed politics forever, but the repeated murders of people who weren't in their contacts is a point of debate they grudgingly have to concede might be an issue

The brain that it takes to see the parallels between Israel/Palestine and DHS/Minneapolis, but to equate DHS with Hamas, rather than the occupying, genocidal IDF, needs to be studied in a lab.

Rahm Emanuel might be the most talented person at getting himself in the news. He's a corrupt piece of garbage, with no integrity or morality whatsoever, widely loathed by the democratic base, but nobody is better at getting written up as if they have something to say worth listening to.
Trump is unpopular, but how do Democrats frame their arguments for a comeback?

Two veteran politicos, Rahm Emanuel and Gretchen Whitmer, have thoughts
In NPR video interviews. Worth watching on a snowy day.

I've been studying the history of US, and indeed, global policing my whole career and I can't make it more clear to law makers that this isn't a bastardization of policing, it is its purest form and logical conclusion. The impunity, militarization, deference, legitimacy, racial targeting, etc.

They watched Israel do this with every Palestinian they killed for two years and so they never imagined it wouldn't work
… Furthermore, according to two other sources with knowledge of the situation, top officials in the Trump White House reminded their federal colleagues in and outside the West Wing that Pretti should be referred to as a “terrorist” in written statements and public messaging, no matter his background

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

The people who'll tell you today's murder victim in Minnesota shouldn't have turned up to a protest carrying a gun are the same people who said Kyle Rittenhouse was perfectly entitled to do the same thing.

This is important. And partly why the entire rightwing infrastructure from GOP to Heritage to Manhattan to ALEC were so terrified of 2020. Millions of the folks marching for racial justice and demanding a racial reckoning were *white*
Showing cross-racial solidarity is a potential death sentence. There are few things white supremacists hate more.

Man, I hate to break it to you, but I think the White House might actually be involved in all this.
I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

The money in CA going toward homelessness and their HSR has just been going straight to Newsom's buddies. You can do all the YIMBY "why can't we build stuff" complaints about regulatory burdens, and that's fine and worth addressing, but when you spend that much money for no results, it's theft.

Something I don’t think polling fully captures is the intensity of unpopularity. “Strongly disapprove” covers a wide range of attitudes. There’s “this sucks” strongly disapprove and there’s “it is now my life mission to destroy all that you stand for at all costs” strongly disapprove.
the incredulous "this is bullshit, are you fucking kidding" tone here is a sign that you have turned someone into a lifelong radical against you and people like you

this is a stupid tactic used by stupid people who don't have any other ideas
ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."
