ICE killing #AlexPretti should remind you of police killing #PhilandoCastille. Both men had concealed weapon permits, did not draw their guns, & were killed in Minn. These homicides are the price of unaccountable policing. These deaths are variations on the same fatal theme.

The AAUP continues to fight to protect noncitizen speech on campuses nationwide.

“Our chapter sued to protect the rights of everyone on our campus to speak their mind, even when their speech is unpopular. We will never stop standing up for our community.”

Judge Rejects Nationwide Relief in AAUP, MESA Lawsuit Over Noncitizen Speech, Issues Narrower Protections | News | The Harvard Crimson
A federal judge rebuffed a Harvard faculty group’s request to extend speech protections to noncitizens nationwide after it won a lawsuit against the Trump administration — instead issuing a special…

This is real. Athletes have so much power if they choose to use it.

I hope the athletes follow their lead today. We need them too.
Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Anthony Edwards, Steve Kerr.

They have the ability to significantly intervene in US history today, when they are needed most, by refusing to play and saying exactly why: ICE must be driven out of Minnesota and everywhere else.

Strike against ICE murders and abductions.

The people who spent years defending and even lionizing Kyle Rittenhouse and Ashli Babbitt now want us to believe that an unarmed mother in her car and a disarmed nurse were domestic terrorists who deserved to be murdered by law enforcement.

1500-2000 DC residents gathered at ICE HQ to mourn and protest last night. Speakers mentioned George Floyd and the struggle for racial justice and then asked those assembled to call out other names: Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile (also a Minnesotan), and others.
We will not forget.

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

The NRA is a gun rights organization the way the Ku Klux Klan is a speech rights organization.

The daylight execution is an escalation. But it’s inseparable from the regime’s nostalgia for a mythological world where white Christian men dominated without apology. That’s why Critical Race Theory and the cross racial solidarity it emboldens scares them so much.

On Monday I’m going to call my two Democratic senators and ask them not to fund any spending package that includes ICE funding. I’m also going to call my Republican representative and tell his office that I will blame the shutdown on him and his support for ICE.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

Now Noem says:

“This individual went and impeded their law enforcement operations...had a weapon on him, and multiple dozens of rounds of ammunition, wishing to inflict harm on these officers.”

So “had a weapon on him”, not brandishing.

Last time i checked they worked hard to make that a right.

We have video of Renee Good and Alex Pretti being executed by ICE

We don’t have video of the torture in the ICE camps

We know Geraldo Campos was choked to death

We know Randall Gamboa was put in a persistent vegetative state and deported

We know 2025 was the deadliest year on record

Abolish ICE

There is a template for this. You can call it a conference, a congress, a convention, an assembly, but they all amount to the same thing. It needs to be convened promptly, and Illinois would be a good choice for hosting it.
I am asking my fellow Republican and Democratic Governors across the nation to have a unified response.

We must all stand against the lawlessness being inflicted in our states.

an administration staffed to the top with degenerate liars
Noem lies shamelessly: "An individual approached order Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic gun. The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived to inflict maximum damage and kill law enforcement"

This is important. And partly why the entire rightwing infrastructure from GOP to Heritage to Manhattan to ALEC were so terrified of 2020. Millions of the folks marching for racial justice and demanding a racial reckoning were *white*
Showing cross-racial solidarity is a potential death sentence. There are few things white supremacists hate more.
