Accurate. So so so much needless suffering and economic loss.
The DHS occupation is crushing the economy of the whole area. It's just tragic how people are suffering.

Not a judgment and IDK how you overcome it but...it's striking that every time a fresh national news story drops about ICE in the Twin Cities (ProPublica today), a lot of people respond with "Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad" and everyone in MN goes "Yes and it's a hundred times worse"

Very good observation.
An excerpt from Sophie Gilbert’s review of the new Melania movie:

"Melania shows off her custom-made inauguration gown, stark white with black ribbons overlaying it, a dress that now looks unavoidably like the redacted Epstein files."

I won’t share the photos myself, they aren’t mine to share.

But seeing pictures of ICE OUT NOW on Lake Minnetonka near downtown Wayzata made me smile.

That’s right, WAYZATA got out on the lake with candles on a cold night.

ICE will be gone eventually, Caribou, but I carry a retail grudge against sniveling regional chains with the same dedication as a Minnesota governor refusing to return a Confederate Virginia battle flag.
Yeah, sorry but not sorry, Caribou

The heartbreaking thing is seeing immigrants families, trapped in their homes, waving from their windows when the march passes by.

"The Great Writ and release from detention are GRANTED."

There's a video claiming to be tribal members on parade in Minneapolis as protest of the orange dipshit. It's fake. Don't fall for it.

Love this.
An amazing MN Librarian assembled us a reading list to add to the website so people can do more than donate, they can learn to organize in their communities.

Here's the 'deescalation' you write about @politico.com.
ICE is camped out at a free clinic/food shelf on the Northside if you'd like to see how de-escalation and targeted enforcement is going.

"where are the protests" is a reflection of how many people's sense of reality is intermediated by billionaire owned social media and billionaire owned news media, both of which have strategically suppressed cover of the scale and frequency of 2025 protests
The “Where are the protests?” lament after Trump’s inauguration was always based on a (willful) misperception. Over the past year, protests have been far more numerous, more geographically widespread, and more sustained than what we saw in 2017, for instance.

Originally published on 6/2/2020 (after the killing of George Floyd), this cartoon seems all too relevant again today.

really excellent framing.

"this can't be liberal, they're not reacting to mercantilist trade policies at all!"
Since we're doing the "fascism" debate again, I have to confess I find it baffling how the "not fascist" argue it can only apply to the specific situations of one historical time period, which is not a standard they would ever apply to any other political label ("socialist," "liberal," whatever.)
