Great episode that has lodged in my brain the idea that Harari is just Joe Rogan for people who want feel smart instead of feeling like they’re funny
Episode 46: Sapiens

It's an ambitious goal to write the entire history of humanity in just 400 pages. It's even more ambitious to do it without reading any research.

This chart is really really cool - seeing the whole range really makes the numbers feel more intuitive and match up with the experience of watching these guys play
Was looking into QB volatility and charted out a quarterback's best and worst games by EPA/play this season to show the range. Chart is sorted by overall EPA/play on the season, including designed runs.

The video doesn’t make this point but a lot of these same points help explain why AI-generated video can often feel “fake” when trying to use it in a more cinematic way
This is a really remarkable video essay on contemporary film and the theories of Laura Marks. It's making me think about movies in a new way.

The weirdest thing about this discourse is that states with shorter school closures have the same amount of learning loss! I keep waiting for all the punditry on this to catch up with basic facts
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

It just wasn't a big, newsworthy deal like, for instance, the college applications of a mayoral candidate to a school he didn't get into or attend.
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

nowadays every app wants to be a platform, and platform logic requires that they become the *only* platform.

that's why they all start as Specific: The Tool That Does A Thing and five years later announce they're rebranding as Totalizr: We Manage Your Life

After some reflection I think that this was an incredible postseason filled with drama and excitement. We’re very lucky to watch guys like Ohtani play, and baseball might be as good as it’s ever been. Also god exists and hates the Toronto Blue Jays
