They not only failed to get an indictment, they failed to get a single grand juror’s vote. It’s probable that this has never happened before.

Likely because the DOJ has never sent hack political appointees to attempt to get indictments on sitting Congress members over protected speech before.

Giving evidence in the high court, Dacre, who edited the paper from 1992 to 2018, said the “grave and sometimes preposterous” claims from Doreen Lawrence and six other claimants had “astonished, appalled and – in the small hours of the night – reduced me to rage”. The only thing that drove McSweeney was to defeat the Labour left, which he was very good at. Once in power, they had nothing to give but supposed 'competence' and 'honesty' - but that fell apart very quickly with the freebie row, and now has collapsed totally with Mandelson. Nowhere to go.
